National Assembly Crisis: Buhari meets lawmakers behind closed-doors

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday evening met behind closed-doors with some members of the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers were led to the meeting held inside the Conference Hall of the First Lady’s Office inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja by Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila.

Gbajabiamila led 29 other lawmakers loyal to him to the meeting which started at about 9.55pm with the arrival of the President and the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Those who attended were drawn from all the six geo-political zones.

The lawmakers were convened to the venue in two white Coaster buses.

Senator Abu Ibrahim from Katsina State who apparently brokered the meeting was introducing Gbajabiamila and his group to the President when journalists were asked to excuse them.

The meeting was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report at 10.19pm.

The meeting was part of efforts aimed at resolving the leadership crisis rocking the two chambers of the National Assembly.

Gbajabiamila was the All Progressives Congress’ choice for the post of the Speaker before Yakubu Dogara was elected.

  4. I do really think it wrong that any well-meaning Nigerian should begin to find fault with President Buhari's administrative style. Over the past months, he has made serious impacts in our governance structure. We see a clear-sighted and constructive approach such as are necessary to straighten out the conundrum of the past administration's mischief and inefficiency. I think he under no obligation to rush if we are sincere about getting it right this around.

  5. Buhari's approach so far has been as clear-sighted and constructive as necessary to wangle our way out of the conundrum created by the past administration's mischief and inefficiency. I think President Buhari is not under any obligation to make haste if he must it right.
