Lagos sacks LASEMA boss


The Lagos State Government has relieved Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu of his appointment as the General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA.

Although no reason was given for the removal, the government immediately named Mr. Michael Akindele as the new boss of LASEMA.



A statement by the Head, Public Relations Unit, LASEMA, Adebayo Kehinde, stated that the new helmsman was not a strange hand to the agency as he was an aide to the governor on emergency management between 2007 and 2011.

The statement read, “A new General Manager has been appointed for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency. He is Mr. Michael Akindele.

“Akindele, who was a former Vice Chairman of the Ikeja Local Government Area, later became Special Assistant to His Excellency, Lagos State Governor on Health between 2004 and 2007.

“He also served as a Senior Special Assistant on Lagos State Emergency Management Agency between 2007 and 2011.

“And most recently, between 2011 and 2015, he served as Senior Special Assistant on Housing to His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State.

“Michael Akindele has a robust experience in Health and Public Administration.”
