Buhari’s wife gives APC women, youths ‘thank-you’ dinner


Wife of the President, Mrs.Aisha Buhari, on Saturday hosted the All Progressives Congress’ women and youths to an elaborate reception at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mrs.Buhari organised the event tagged “Appreciation Dinner” to thank APC stakeholders for working for her husband’s victory in the March 28 presidential election.

The large hall inside the Banquet Hall was filled beyond capacity with flamboyantly-dressed women drawn from all states of the federation.

The hall was tastefully decorated with the white and blue colours of the APC.

The APC Women Leader, Mrs.Ramatu Tijani, delivered the welcome address in which she advised that the party leadership must ensure that they deliver on the change they promised Nigerians.

She said the dinner was organised to appreciate those who made the change possible by touring all parts of the country to campaign for the party.

Red luxury buses belonging to the Abuja Urban Mass Transit were used to convey members of different state delegations to the venue.


Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who was also the Director-General of the Buhari/Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Organisation served as the chairman of the occasion.

At the time the dinner was ongoing, President Muhammadu Buhari was in Johannesburg, South Africa where he is currently taking part in the ongoing African Union Summit.

Buhari and his family as well as the family of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have yet to relocate to the Presidential Villa.

Those who attended the dinner included wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo; wife of the President of the Senate, Mrs. Toyin Saraki; wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Gimbia Dogara; wife of the National Chairman of the APC, Mrs. Victoria Odigie-Oyegun; wives of APC state governors, APC female deputy governors; wives of former governors on the platform of the party and other top officials of the party across the country.

A national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was represented by Senator Babafemi Ojudu.

The dinner which started at 8.15pm with the arrival of the President’s wife was still ongoing at the time of filing this report.

  2. This is the beginning of wastefulness. Was this party funded from their private account? How does this waste add positively and productively to alleviating unemployment and gross suffering among the masses? This os how it starts. We are watching.

  3. ahhhh we know tinibo will not attend ,,,,,,for reason s we all know ,and mrs buhari should watch very well the cost of the celebration,,, Nigerians are taken note of every move of the party,,,zero tolerance of corruption was the promised made ,,,it is Nigerians masses that vote buhari not just APC women who are politicians, who have fat accounts,,,
