President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo declare assets

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have declared their assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by the Constitution.

The head of Buhari’s media team, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Saturday, said the President and Vice President submitted their assets declaration forms separately on Thursday.

Shehu added that the CCB, through its Chairman, Sam Saba, on Friday acknowledged the receipt of the forms.

He said Buhari’s declarant identity was given as: President: 000001/2015.

Shehu however did not disclose the contents of the assets declaration forms.

“By declaring their assets, President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo may have not only fulfilled the requirements of the Nigerian Constitution, but also fulfilled the first of their many campaign promises.

“While seeking election into the highest office in the land, the President had promised Nigerians that he would publicly declare his assets as soon as he took over government,” he wrote.

The Nigerian Constitution states in Chapter VI Section 140, that a person elected to the office of President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in the Constitution.

  2. He said he would publicly declare them. Until the asset declaration is published he hasn't fulfilled his campaign promise. Jonathan also declared his assets but did not want to make them public. So until Buhari's own is made public - which I am sure he will do, Yaradua remains the only Nigerian president to publicly declare his assets.

  3. Bulshit! It should be done publicly! That's what he said! We've not seen it! Former president GEJ declared to and was lambasted for not making it public! So why do the same thing and pretend as if you've done great! We alll need to see it! It has to be made public! That was what you swore during campaign that you where gonna do!

  4. Buhari promised to declare his assets publicly and not in secret form like this. Somebody should pls tell Mr president to fulfill his campaign promises. We expect a lot from Buhari and he should not disappoint Nigerians. I love my country.

  5. What will you make out of it if you see it, ignorant Nigeria. They have done what the constitution has permitted them to do. CCB is saddled with that responsibility ( it's only when there is issue that CCB will make it public.) take this block headed.
