El-Rufai appoints SSG, media aide, others


Kaduna State Governor-elect, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has announced the appointment of Malam Balarabe Abbas-Lawal as the Secretary to the State Government.

Abbas-Lawal, a former Chief of Staff to El-Rufai when he was Minister of the FCT, was the Chairman, All Progressives Congress Kaduna Transition Committee.

El-Rufai, in a statement by him on Wednesday, also named Malam Salisu Suleiman as his Principal Private Secretary while Mr. Abu Sheyin will serve as Private Secretary to the Deputy Governor-elect, Mr. Barnabas Bala.


Also, the Governor-elect announced the appointment of Mr. Bala Yunusa as Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative Affairs) while Mr. Samuel Aruwan will serve as Special Assistant on Media to the Governor.

Aruwan worked as spokesman for the Kaduna State APC Campaign Council in the 2015 elections.

He began his journalism career at Leadership Newspapers. Until his appointment, he was the Kaduna Bureau Chief of the Blueprint Newspapers Limited.

The new SSG, a former lecturer, served as the Chief of Staff when El-Rufai was minister of the FCT.

He was also a director in the Nasir El-Rufai Campaign Organisation.

Lawal had taught at the defunct College of Advance Studies (now Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic), Zaria in Kaduna State and at the Administrative College of Nigeria, Badagry, Lagos State.

The new PPS holds a Ph.D in Public Policy.

Suleiman worked in the public sector and the academia.

Sheyin, the Private Secretary to the Deputy Governor-elect, is a former Secretary and Acting Chairman of Jemaa Local Government.

Yunusa, a Deputy Chief of Staff(Legislative Affairs) is a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

He worked in the Kaduna State APC Campaign Council and served on a sub-committee of the Transition Committee.
