Oyo Governorship Elections: Ladoja vows to defeat Ajimobi

The Accord Party governorship candidate in Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has played down the victory of the All Progressives Congress in the Saturday presidential and National Assembly elections, saying that the outcome would not count in the April 11 governorship and state assembly elections.

AP did not win any of the Senate or House of Representatives seats on Saturday thus sparking fears that Ladoja, a former governor of the state, might be heading for defeat in the governorship election.

In his first message to his supporters after the Saturday elections, in which his party supported President Goodluck Jonathan, Ladoja urged AP members to be resolute in their determination to wrest power from the APC-led government in the state.

He told the supporters at his Bodija home in Ibadan to disregard the results of the Saturday elections, saying different factors would come to play in the governorship poll.

“I am happy with the continuous support that I receive from the people of the state and I promise to do more to meet their expectations if elected as governor. Our people can tell the difference when I was governor between 2003 and 2007 and what obtains now. I have no doubt whatsoever that I will emerge victorious in the governorship elections. It is not going to be the same on April 11,” he said.
