Lai Mohammed offers to train PDP’s Metuh as opposition spokesperson

The All Progressives Congress has offered to send the Peoples Democratic Party National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh, on special six-week crash course on his new role as the opposition spokesman.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said this while reacting to an allegation by the PDP spokesman that the APC was planning to kill the PDP and ensure that Nigeria becomes a one-party state.


The APC said Metuh needed to be trained on how to be a good opposition spokesman so that he would not be telling lies.

The statement read, “Metuh will need the training to effectively carry out his new tough task. It is now obvious that he needs to understand that for him to succeed in his new role, he must be credible, empirical, more sophisticated in language use and very passionate in addition to being able to operate on a lean or zero budget.”

The APC said it was ridiculous for anyone to suggest that the APC was seeking to destabilise the PDP when the PDP was already in crisis long before the elections.

The statement added, “Really, it’s beggars belief to say that the APC is seeking to lure members of the PDP’s National Executive Committee with phantom promises and threats with a view to destabilising the party when everyone knows the rate at which PDP stalwarts have been rushing to jump off the sinking ship called the PDP before it finally tipped over.

“Our national chairman and president-elect have even spoken out publicly on the issue, encouraging the eager PDP defectors to stay back in their party so they can provide a formidable opposition to the new ruling party. How then can anyone accuse the APC of either luring away PDP members or seeking to destabilise a party that has done itself in?”

Mohammed described the claim by the PDP as ludicrous, adding that its publicity secretary, Metuh, needed training to be able to carry out its new role.

The APC, therefore, urged Metuh, to make himself available for the crash course which would be supervised by the APC publicity secretary so that he would be able to perform optimally for the next four years.
