Late arrival of electoral materials in Abeokuta




There were complaints of late arrival of officials of Independent National Electoral Commission and materials in Abeokuta and adjourned local government .

However, the election process was peaceful and many electorates turned out for accreditation.

It was observed that the late arrival of the ad hoc staff and other election materials characterised most of the polling units in Abeokuta the state capital.



Also, there was no military presence in the state capital as speculated that the uniform men had been deployed in the state.

Major streets of Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital were deserted today as Nigerians go to the poll to elect a new President and other members of the National Assembly.

Residents of the state capital complied strictly with the restriction order imposed by the security agencies in the state.

As early as 7.30 in the morning most voters with their permanent voter cards arrived various polling centres for accreditation but were disappointed as the officials of the commission had not arrived as at the time of filing the report .

In Oke-ilewo, Omida, Grammar school, Oke -Yeke and kuto polling units visited by our correspondent, security men were on ground as well as the voters ready for accreditation, but the ad hoc staff are yet to arrive.

They expressed optimism that Ad Hoc staff will soon arrive any moment from now. As at the time of this report, our crew is yet to notice the deployment of troops for the poll in Abeokuta and tha adjourned Local Government areas for the poll.
