APC, beneficiary of alleged corruption in PDP - Minister

Minister of Water Resources, Mrs. Sarah Ochekpe, has said that if the opposition All Progressives Congress says that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party is corrupt, it (APC) is the biggest beneficiary of the alleged corruption.

The minister, who spoke while addressing heads of federal establishments and agencies in Jos, Plateau State, on Monday on the forthcoming elections, said the allegation by the opposition that PDP was corrupt was a case of giving a dog a bad name to hang it.

She said that the APC lacked moral right to accuse the PDP of corruption, considering that the opposition had drawn most of its members from the PDP.

She said, “The allegation of corrupt practices coming from the APC is just to discredit my President and it is coming from the main opposition. If the PDP is corrupt, the APC is the beneficiary. Most of the APC members were once members of the PDP, so if they claimed that PDP is corrupt, it means they are using the money they stole to finance the APC.

“The agencies saddled with the responsibility of addressing corruption are doing their best. Mr. President is a man of due process, who strongly believe in the tenet of democracy and constitution. Anyone caught involving in corrupt practices in his government cannot go scot free, but he is approaching the issue of corruption from constitutional point of view while some people expected him to adopt draconian approach.”

The minister expressed disappointment that those who were supposed to give helping hands in fighting the menace of insurgency in the North appeared to be fuelling it for selfish reasons.

“He (President Goodluck Jonathan) was accused of not fighting insecurity but attempts to purchase military equipment was frustrated by the United States of America, who said the government was being accused of human rights violation. But if the government is accused of this, how would one describe the US operations in places like Syria and others experiencing similar scenario,” the minister said.

  5. Sorry madam, you need to say something to justify your appointment. No doubt, corruption is not limited to a particular political party but somebody somewhere is saddled with the responsibilities of stemming it. That person is your principal. Since he has failed woefully, he deserves to be voted out. We're conscious of the fact that there are corrupt elements in both parties but our primary concern is the man at the top. Buhari is definitely a better alternative to president Jonathan.

  6. She is very correct, APC has no grounds what so ever to accuse PDP of corruption. I just wished a new party with moral grounds and standards which the APC first started with but lost focus were in competition. May GOD deliver us from self centred people.

  8. There is no corrupt persons like Buhari 2.8b corruption in his account, Used suit cases to load Forign currency, Awarded contraT to APC (African Project Consortum)Worth N189b Opata panel indicted him on malpractice as a minister of patrolium , PTF fraud. Tinubu is corrupt he has acquired all the lands in lagos state, his Forster mother was incharge of the markets in lagos acquired all the stores in lagos, the lagos state internal revenue sands returns to Tinubu on revenue collected using task force imposition of Tax on 1004 estate and the whole money went into Tinubus account, . So APC does not have moral justification to talk about corruption. All the PDP members who felt aggrieved are now in APC so how can APC fight corruption they are just propaganders looking on how to deceive gullible Nigerians
