Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has accused the leadership of All Progressives Congress(APC) of knowing those behind the Boko Haram insurgency.
Rather than wiping out sentiment ,Fayose urged APC to produce Ibrahim Shekau, the original leader of Boko Haram
The APC’s Presidential Campaign Organisation has said the Federal Government was planning to use a fake Ibrahim Shekau to implicate the party’s presidential candidate, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd)
In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose lamented the open display of hatred against Nigeria and its people by the APC.
Fayose therefore charged the APC to produce the original Shekau, since the party knows that the Federal Government was presenting a fake one, saying; “It is obvious that APC does not want the insurgency to end.”
“Up till today, the APC has not made any statement, commending our gallant soldiers that are laying down their lives to save Nigerians from the Boko Haram insurgents.
”Instead of commending the soldiers and encouraging them, what the APC people are doing is to blackmail the military and one wonders why a party will want to take over power by supporting killing of innocent Nigerians.”
Speaking further, the governor said; “With the onslaught on the Boko Haram by our gallant soldiers, the APC appears to have lost the game of using the insurgency to campaign against President Goodluck Jonathan.
”Instead of them to face this reality, they have come up with this criminal assertion that a fake leader of Boko Haram, Ibrahim Shekau, was being presented before Nigerians by the government, in order to claim winning the war on terrorism.
”They are also claiming the fake Shekau might become a tool to blackmail members of the opposition, by coaching the phantom terror chief to say he was working for its presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, in order to link him to terrorism.
”With this statement coming from the APC, it is clear that the party knows what we don’t know about Boko Haram.
”It also indicates that the APC people do not want the Boko Haram insurgency to end so that they can continue to make political gains from it.
”Therefore, APC should simply produce the original Shekau that they know because you can only recognise fake when you know the original.

DeleteFor me, instead of criticizing Fayose, why don't go blind on whose side he is and join in the analysis. If APC knows the real Shekau then let them show us and let this Bokoharam era die off. We all know the truth but my worry is, why do these politicians gamble with lives in ending this insurgency, APC show us real Shekau make PDP to catch wrong one

ReplyDeleteI am afraid many Nigerians are hypocritical. The military had sometime last year said that they killed Shakarau and up till today no disclaimer. Now, there is an urgent mission to capture him alive. The question by any right thinking person should be from where is he going to be captured from, grave, samsba forest or where. The truth is there is politicization of terrorism in Nigeria. The on going operation is meant for political point. For Fayose I believe he is underrating the resolve of Nigerians to bring change to this country. We can not continue tolerating people like him who usurp institutions for their selfish gains.
ReplyDeleteAPC is dead. Their main campaign platform, tackling of Boko Haram, has been taken off their table. That is why they don't Boko Haram to end. It's obvious APC leaders know about Boko Haram. Notice that anytime Nigeria's military is killing these bastards, APC is always unsettled. They always come up with one argument or another in favor of their brothers, Boko Haram. How come Boko Haram gave them access to Maiduguri for campaigns? How come their governors matched on the street of Maiduguri without any hitch?

Criticism is good, oh well it's being productive for the past few months in Nigeria security.
