Wilfried Bony Becomes Most Expensive African Footballer in History

Ivory Coast international footballer, Wilfriend Bony is now the most expensive African footballer of all time following his move to English club Manchester City.

Bony, 26, agreed a 4 and half year deal with City. “It’s a great feeling for me, it’s a big honour to be here and it’s a great challenge,” he said on signing with the Manchester based club.

The £28million move skyrocket Bony to the top of the most expensive African footballers list.

He passed a medical while in the United Arab Emirates, where he is at a training camp with Ivory Coast, ahead of the Ivory Coast FA claiming the transfer had been sealed.

Bony was the Premier League's 20-goal top scorer in the calendar year of 2014 and struck 34 times in 70 games for Swansea after joining from Vitesse Arnhem in 2013.

He will not be available to make his debut for his new club until February as he, along with City vice-captain Yaya Toure, is in Ivory Coast's squad for the African Nations Cup.
