Just few days after the former Head of State and Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, retd, explained in an affidavit submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that all his academic credentials were with the Military Board, the Army have stated that they do not keep the certificates of any serving or retired officer or soldier.
General Buhari is contesting the presidential election for the fourth time under different political parties including the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party, ANPP and the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, but the issue of his qualifications had never been controversial until the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, recently described him as a ‘’semi- illiterate.’’
However, against the backdrop of Buhari’s affidavit in court, a military source said ‘’that the Army can not keep anybody’s original certificate because it is the personal property of the owner,’’ adding that such original certificates were only needed at the point of entry into the service.
According to the source, the Military only kept photocopies of credentials of officers and soldiers in their personal files that were in the military secretary’s office.
“The original certificate of any officer or soldier is only needed at the point of entry into the service either as a cadet officer entering the Nigerian Defence Academy, or the recruitment officers when interviewing recruits to be sent to the depot for training. That is so, because they are needed to verify what were in the photocopies supplied by them or from the necessary examining bodies.”
The source further stated that anybody claiming that his original certificates were with the Military Secretary (Army), had ‘’ulterior motive(s) or something he or she cannot explain.’’

So GMB, where are your original certificates??. You have not even worn the election and you have started lying to Nigerians, what happens if you win??. DeleteLazy commentaries. This is what Buhari's affidavit said - Buhari had said in the affidavit, “I am the above-named person and deponent to this affidavit therein. All my academic qualifications documents as filled in my presidential form, President APC/001/2015, are currently with the Secretary, Military Board, as of the time of presenting this affidavit. The affidavit is made in good faith and for record purpose. The affidavit is made in good faith and for record purposes.” Where did he mention 'original documents'. Please stop using your backsides to reason - fact check your sources and then read carefully what is written. That is, hopefully, what you were taught in school. There is no requirement to provide 'original' certificates to INEC.
ReplyDeleteBro, BH should have said where his original certificates were otherwise his affidavit should have referred inec to the school where he obtained his qualification and not the military. It is left for inec to go to the school and verify. There is need to come with ur original document, otherwise has there been anytime during the process of obtaining ur academic qualifications, u didn't present ur original copies of previous qualifications? Even at NYSC, I present my original JAMB slip that got me admitted into the university.

ReplyDeleteDnt misunderstand army board, if army can have ur photocopy of ur cert mean u av d cert,am talkin frm experience sm soldier n officer lost dhr cert in Ecomog Som even lost theirs in operation safe haven in jos bt if army has d photocopy is 4 INEC 2go n collect it n verify if it's authentic of wsh I knw army cnt accept fake credentials, so dnt panic GMB cert is genuine n in place.

What Buhari need to do is to go to military board and beg for Photocopy and present it to INEC! And if he lost the originals why cant buhari tell us the truth as in the case of Namadi Sambo who said that he lost his own to fire and he immediately contacted the schools and they responded accordingly to testify to his claims. Buhari cannot seat down and expect INEC to go and collect his certicate for him from anywhere! As far as am concern Buhari has a hidden agenda and that is also part of corruption

And the requirement was not to present originals.These semi-literates here should go to proper school and always learn to read properly before making comments. Anyway, PDP-led govt has failed to adequately fund education and give you sound education since inception.

ReplyDeleteI think the most important thing is whether GMB truely posses whatever certificate he claimed he has. If they are veritable from the issuing instsituations I do not believe it is news worthy. I know there are many people who have lost theirs. For example vice president recently submitted letter from his institution stating his originals were lost by fire. That doesn't mean he didn't posses those certificates he claimed he has.

Today, the director of public relations of the Nigerian Army Brigadier Olaleye Lajide, dismissed the reports, saying the military have his academic records, that they’re just waiting for him to apply for it
