Some so-called statesmen are ordinary men - Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday came down hard on some unnamed Nigerians who he said have been parading themselves as statesmen but are “ordinary politicians” in their utterances.

He said being a statesman was not about the offices previously occupied by politicians.

Jonathan spoke while playing host to a delegation of the Northern Elders Council in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said politicians who make provocative utterances aimed at causing disaffection and bringing the country down could not be described as statesmen.

He said such politicians only engage in such venture because they do not get what they want.

He said a lot of lies were being peddled about his government with the aim of painting him black.

With time, the President said, Nigerians would know who statesmen are truly are.

Who do you think President Jonathan is talking about?

  3. Obasanjo and Buhari especially,I guess but, these so called statesmen paid huge sacrifice with their life during civil war to keep the unity of Nigeria. So, if they sternly criticise GEJ they have a point and as citizens they have the right to criticise any government.

please can someone ask our President why will someone waste there time to paint him black when he is black enough or how much more black did he want to become ? he is always given excuses instead of thinking of how to carry out the mandate given to him by the nation.

Do not incure the wrath of God by indirectly insulting God cos God knows of his existence and God fixed him there.

  15. I wonder when our dear "President" will become a good politician. I pray that this man should be rested after the February Presidential election to enable him "enjoy" whatever that is accrued to whoever occupies such post in Nigeria. Good luck to GEJ.

  16. OBJ said that GEJ government floundered over $35b dollars his government left in Federation account/Reserves in 2007. Okonjo Iweala said they used the money for developments in Nigeria. Let us assume that she is right. How much has GEJ government saved since 2007? Oil price crashed how many months ago? We have problems with this government.

  17. I might be right to say that most of these people speaking against our President do not even have voters card.

GEJis a saint ,to rule NIG with clean hands, clean morality and no blood letting, tolerating every rubbish and allowing opposition to tribe is a very rear quality which even Buhari and Tinubu and OBJ can never have ,he will go down in hx as the best president of Nig in his time when many Nig know what is going on,,today we celebrate many heroes who during their time were totally disregarded, laying a foundation is the hardest part of a building
