Bishop Okah blasts Buhari: ‘Sit down, you’re too old’

Pastor of Flock of Christ Mission International, Warri, Delta State, Bishop Simeon Okah, has advised the 72-year-old All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to sit down because he is too old.

Bishop, who gave four reasons why Nigerians should not vote for Buhari, said, “At his age, I have the desire and cry for the youth of Nigeria. Buhari will not communicate with these young ones. He will not feel what they feel, I prefer a younger person to him, who is educated.”

His words, “Now Buhari is saying he will fight insurgency, that he will use the army. When he was a general in the army and Head of State, he was not able to handle the army when they staged a coup. Is it not coup that sacked him?

“If he was a general and a commander- in -chief, why did that happen? Not now in a democracy, you know in a democracy, it is difficult when compared to military rule. So in military rule, he was not able to have a grip on the army, Buhari knows in his heart of heart that he cannot,” he added.

Okah asserted: “Thirdly, I cannot trust Buhari. How many times has he said that he would not come back after losing elections in the past, he came back the other day. How can I trust him? I will have difficulty to trust him.”

The cleric stated: “Buhari, whether he accepts it or not, he is religious extremist. If he thinks some of us have forgotten, the other day when he lost election, he said that if he loses election, he will make Nigeria ungovernable, today, North-East is ungovernable. Buhari has to make a confession and he needs to apologize to this country.”

The Bishop said, “I pity my brother, the professor and SAN, Yemi Osinbajo, a senior pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, I don’t think he heard from God, He forgot how Buhari handled Pastor Tunde Bakare, go and sit with Bakare, some things Bakare cannot publicly say, how Buhari dumped him. Do you hear Bakare talk about Buhari. On these four points, I will personally mobilize the youths and the church against Buhari.”

  8. Men of God are members of the society and are free to comment on national issues. I do not understand the double standard of the opposition in Nigeria. If APC can choose a practicing pastor as Buhari’s running mate suffice it to say that the APC brought the church into partisan politics. Why the complain about personal opinions and prayers of men of God. I am of the the opinion that they are free to express their feelings.

  9. Stop lying fake bishop. Bakare spoke well about Buhari. You have lost touch with reality. Go and mobilize since that is what your god called you to do. Buhari all the way.

  15. Buhari wants to defy the church by using devilish manipulation to choose a Redeemed pastor as his Vise a position which no Moslem imam will accept therefore this calls for reputable men of God who hear from God and who know Gods mind to speak out. God said that Jonathan will win so anybody fighting Jonantan is fighting God and you can't fight God you will be crushed

  16. ....... 2015 Election.........
"Are you a Nigerian and a Christian?
Perhaps you’ve received a message via social media warning Nigerian Christians not to vote for APC because it is a Muslim party and has an Islamic agenda? I plead with you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to reject the message. Refuse to be gullible! It’s very painful what we’re doing to ourselves. The level of gullibility among some of us Christians is sickening. My friends, Pastors Nosa Idahosa, Oluwole Adekunle, among others have addressed this subject in some of their posts. Pastor Kumuyi in a message posted on 26th Nov 2014 advised Christians: “2015: Don’t vote based on religion, pick people that will deliver.” In spite of the efforts of these dear men of God, many Nigerian Christians continue to be fed with various media. Even those who know my stand on this issue continue to send this message to me. The greatest disservice Pastor Bosun Emmanuel has done to the Body of Christ is to laden a wonderful message with politics, so that a little leaven has leavened the whole lump. It must be in appreciation of his political message that he was named a member of President Jonathan’s National Confab, which today has become history. Alas, this was after wasting hundreds of millions of Naira on a diversionary jamboree. Let’s set certain records straight so as not to mislead the Body of Christ as we’re currently witnessing. For the umpteenth time please, Nigeria is not a Christian state; she is a secular state. Ours is a democracy, not a theocracy; so God respects our choice. You can’t have political power by engaging in spreading false alarms; you must get involved actively in the process. Vote your conscience. Don't be manipulated. If your pastor/papa/bishop says don't vote for a Muslim, ask him if Daniel served a saint; whether Modeccai did not serve King Ahaseurus and if Joseph was not a prime Minister under Pharaoh. This election is not about North versus South, nor is it Christian versus Muslim. It is about Nigeria and good governance. Don't allow politicians divide us. When they share money, they don't talk about religion. When they want donations from Aliko Dangote, they don't remember he is a Muslim. When they enter an aircraft, they don't ask the religious faith of the pilot. When their bosses are atheists, they don't resign from the job. When an Alhaji gives them contracts, they don't reject it. They and their wives go to Dubai to spend money. Dubai is in United Arab Emirate but they have no problems buying houses in Dubai. But when it comes to politics back home, they say they want to ISLAMISE you. Yet, some of these people were spiritual consultants to Abacha. Vote your Conscience. Vote for Change If you want to vote for Jonathan, vote for him based on your conviction that he has performed in your estimation and not because he is a "Christian". If you want to vote for Buhari, vote for him because you feel disenchanted with Jonathan government, not because he is a Muslim. Say NO to bigotry.
    God bless Nigeria.
    Vote wisely ‪

  18. The fact is that we (youths) do not want a lying or a certificate faker as a president. The age of the man is not really the main issue. If this criminal enters power, education will be destroyed.

  19. Buhari was the gorvernor of old bornu state when OBJ was head of state,he knows that terrain very well and that will help but it alsp means that He could be behind it ,there is something they are hidding.OBJ could not contend with mend,he truned the other side during sharia violence and during then OPC,MOSSOB,MEND,So many ethnic insurgents, but nobody called for OBJ head ,He still won his second tenure,Gowon faught Biafra war for three and half yrs,in fact when it started,Biafra was having upper hand, yet Gowon finished the war,is it becuase GEJ is not a military general, must we have. Millitary in power before we can fight insurgent.I see this as true test of democracy, why not allow it to grow,it will solve this once and for all ,and we have true federalism where all the states will develope at theirvown pace and power.

  20. I fully support the man of God. Buhari should go and sleep, he is indeed far too old and illiterate to lead this country of bunch of intellectuals and young people. They talk about change, is it change for the Worse? I can't see Buhari and his old worn out cohort effecting any meaningful change in this country. Grand Pa Buhari, relax, we shall make sure all your retirement benefits get to you.
