Youths burn brooms, APC flags in Imo

No fewer than 2000 youths under the auspices of the Imo Grassroots for Goodluck Jonathan Organisation (IGGO) yesterday took to the streets of Owerri burning brooms and All Progressives Congress (APC) flags in the state.

They also burnt the party’s membership cards and symbols in front of the Government House Owerri, declaring it dead in the state.

The youths moved from Egbu Road through Wetheral Road, chanting songs.

The national coordinator of IGGO, Otuibe Samuel said the rally was part of the sensitization initiative in support of President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid. According to him, President Jonathan had done a lot for Imo State and the South East in general especially in the areas of education, youth empowerment, agriculture and infrastructure.

Samuel lamented that most of the projects done by the Federal Government in all the tertiary institutions in the state were being laid claim to by the APC-led government in the state. Responding, the state Deputy Chairman of the PDP, General Sunday Chikwe (rtd) commended the youths for embarking on peaceful rally in support of President Jonathan and the PDP.

  1. we dont need to burn PDP structures in the north because we have our fathers, brothers contesting under PDP, moreover PDP is a northern formed party but GEJ cannot win 2015 election because we (north & west) the majority are with APC for presidency but we vote individuals for other post. IF YOU LIKE BURN OKOROCHA HIMSELF, he is your son.

    1. You better begin to write your will because we (north & west) will vote for GEJ. Majority are with PDP. If you like you can go on exile until 2019.

    1. Is not has if you know better, Jonathan must come back on what basic? Just to come-back and put us through the misery we have being going through for 6years. If anybody let them burn the whole state, one thing is for sure, on the day of election they can only cast one vote as individual end of the stories. Then we shall know who is the next president come feb, not by hoodlums paid by a party to cause trouble on the street.

  9. My take on this flag burning be it any party's, is uncivilized and portends very bad politicking and any party that sits and watch it's supporters doing that is not worth being voted for.

  12. In your own mind voting GMD, an old man who was unable to turn the fortunes of this country while he's young and with enough energy is right. Do you ever wonder people are retired from active service after a certain age? It's just because the law of diminishing returns has set in. Imagine george bush senior or jimmy carter declaring for American presidency. That will be the most stupid thing to do. If buhari @72 have not groomed someone who can lead Nigeria well then he's even worse than GEJ
