Solange Knowles weds Alan Ferguson

Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles followed in her big sister's footsteps with a hush-hush wedding this weekend. After a secret engagement, the singer married longtime boyfriend Alan Ferguson in New Orleans on Sunday.

The 28-year-old DJ said "I do" about 2 p.m. at the Marigny Opera House, according to People. A group of about 200 friends, such as singer Janelle Monae, and family members, including her sister Beyoncé, brother-in-law Jay Z, and niece Blue Ivy, attended.

While there had been speculation Jay Z might not show up after his Solange's infamous elevator incident at the Met Gala? — he suited up to join the family on one of the few occasions that he and Solange have appeared together since.

Solange and her groom showed up for their special day on vintage bicycles with flowers in Solange's basket. She wore an ivory jumpsuit from Stephane Rolland.

Vogue magazine, which offered an exlusive look at the bride's Humberto Leon for Kenzo dress, reported that music played a prominent role in the ceremony. The couple walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of one of their favorite songs, Donny Hathaway's "I Love the Lord, He Heard My Cry," and Questlove was among the performers. At the reception, Solange and her son, 10-year-old Daniel Julez, had a dance-off to the song "No Flex Zone."

The nuptials concluded two nights of pre-wedding fun. On Friday, the group enjoyed a movie night together, privately screening the 1975 film Mahogany at a rented local theater, before Saturday’s rehearsal dinner.

Solange and Alan, 51, have kept their romance fairly low-key. Although they would attend events together, their relationship was never a big topic of discussion for either. In June, the couple visited Jamaica for Solange’s birthday, when she shared a few rare PDA photos.
