Nigerian Man Sentenced To Death For Drug Trafficking

A 35 year old Nigerian man was sentenced to death today November 25th by a Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 251.66 gm of methapethamine.

Abuchi Ngwoke, was arrested in May 2012 at a Malaysian airport. He had swallowed the drugs.

Abuchi Ngwoke, 35, was found guilty by Justice Datuk Zulkifli Bakar, of committing the offence at Melaka General Hospital between 5 am on May 23 and 2.50 pm on May 25, 2012.

The judge said the defence had failed to cast any reasonable doubt on the prosecution's case.

He described Ngwoke's testimony about swallowing gemstones in Nigeria before travelling here as absurd.

Fourteen prosecution witnesses and one defence witness testified in the trial which commenced on April 28 this year.

The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Nurfarhana Ahmad and Fairuz Syuhada Amran, while Ngwoke was defended by counsel Tiu Leong Kim.

A date is yet to be set for his execution.

  1. Ibo again on drugs, why this rush for quick money courtesy of my fellow Ibo brothers?? I am an Ibo man, Chinedu by name staying in Lagos. My fellow Ibo siblings have taken this rush for quick money too far.almost all money related crime are associated with the Ibos -drugs, prostitution, arm robbery, money rituals, 419/cybercrime  etc. Must it always be us (ibos) , must we always put our society into shame, must we always be the one tarnishing the image of Nigeria abroad.??? Nigeria does not even have image again. Out of every ten nigerian prisoners abroad, seven must be an Ibo, why this ugly trend??. Why are we behaving like suicide bombers? , even when we see that our brothers that committed crime are caught prosecuted or sentenced to dearth we still go ahead and commit crime. We always attribute our caught siblings not being sharp and smart, only to realise our foolishness when caught. No country likes Nigerians, they are always threatened by our presence due to our dexterity , hence will stop at nothing to deal ruthlessly with us at any given opportunity, more especially the far east with their draconian law against crime. We need to pass this message across to all our Ibo youth that crime does not pay, in all our gathering, through the social media and other information medium all the time. Elders, Ohaneze, Ibo women group, mother, parents pass this message. I have done my. All the days are for the thief, but one day is for the owner.
