Villarreal forward Ikechukwu Uche has denied claims by Stephen Keshi that he demanded for apology before honoring the Super Eagles’ invitation.
Keshi on Wednesday revealed the pint-sized player was not invited for the African Nations Cup qualifiers against Congo and South Africa because he wanted to be begged.
“He was supposed to be part of the team that is presently in camp but he said we must beg him first to play for Nigeria because he was left out of some competitions but I can’t beg anyone to play for Nigeria, impossible. That’s why he is not here,” Keshi said in a statement issued by Super Eagles media officer, Ben Alaiya.
Reacting to this accusation, the former Getafe player said he never demanded for any special treatment to play for his country.
“It’s an honour to play for Nigeria. I don’t expect to be begged or given special treatment. I’m available when/if considered for selection,” Goal quoted Uche as saying on his Twitter handle.
Uche fell out with the “big boss” during the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa and missed the Confederations Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup in the process. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

We should have been better at least got to quarterfinal if you had gone to the world cup because you are faster than Eminike and may have scored France
ReplyDeleteOK OO! BIG BOSS OVER TO U!
ReplyDeleteNigerian players should learn how to uplift their career especially nationally. They never quarrel with their club coaches, why? Because that is where they get paid. Messi and co did not get to the top by falling out with their coaches, especially national coaches. A lot of our players shd grow up. Uche should have a lot of respect for Keshi who captained the national team when he was still a toddler and not be trading words with him.
ReplyDeleteYou have spoken well @ second anonymous. Two wrongs cannot make a right. france coach couldn't go with NASRI to the world cup but he can't ever decline any invitation no challenges his country coach. Our players should learn how to respect and be discipline. Uche was not selected to the world cup should not make people to say all sorts of things against KESHI nor jeopardize the the super eagles team. Please UCHE accept this with your good heart and allow God to operate and control your destiny.thanks
DeleteAll these exchange of words by players with the coach is not right
ReplyDeleteYou might be a fantastic player but you must respect the coach Osaze played well in the World Cup cos he saw that quarrelling and exchanging words in the newspapers will not pay him
Ike pls beg Keshi and fall in to the team

ReplyDeleteJust keep quiet and say what u know..why should Ik Uche respect keshi? What has he done against Keshi? I'm sure u didn't see/read the nasty remarks Keshi made against the young man before the world cup.. Is it proper for a coach to speak against his player in such manner? Tell ur keshi to come out plain and tell us what he has against Ike Uche rather than looking out for opportunities to speak against the guy on the media!
