El-Rufai is Boko Haram’s executive commander – Ihejirika

Former Chief of Army Staff, General Onyeabor Azubuike Ihejirika on Thursday opened a can of worms by declaring that the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory and APC Chieftain, Mallam Nasir El-Rufia is one of the frontline Commanders of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Speaking with newsmen over allegation by the former minister that he (Ihejirika) and former Governor Modu Sheriff of Borno State were fingered as terrorists sponsors, General Ihejirika said he is not surprised that this unimaginable allegation is coming from ‘one of the Boko Haram Commanders’.
“The (Commanders) including El-Rufai know where the problem is. He should stop deceiving Nigerians by trying to divert attention”.

According to Ihejirika, “When the Boko Haram operation started, supporters of the sect like El-Rufai said that there was nothing like Boko Haram and that the army was just killing innocent youths”.
“If you also remember, not too long ago, some of their supporters including El-Rufai said that I was re-inventing the killing of the Ibos during the Biafra war following government’s determination to rid the country of terrorism.

Ihejirika who was obviously angry while speaking on phone, also said, “The likes of El-Rufai started the campaign of human right abuses, in order to divert the international attention of the heinous crime being committed by the Boko Haram terrorists”.

Gen. Ihejirika then recalled recent allegations against his person indicating that that he took away N48 billion, an amount of money which is still in the coffers of the Ministry of Defence, which can be verified by anybody adding that he was not surprised that these allegation is coming from the likes of El-Rufai who started the campaign.

Continuing the former Army Chief said, “The likes of El-Rufai have been supporting Boko Haram. In fact, El-Rufai and his likes are the same group of people that ensured the army did not to get the requested equipment to deal with this menace once and for all, as they used their cohorts to tell the government that procuring modern equipment were not necessary”.

Recalling that the same El-Rufai went to Thisday Newspaper premises to grant interview to condemn security forces for the efforts at ridding the country of these senseless mayhem by the terrorists, Ihejirika said, “At the onset of this crisis, I was the first person to declare that the country was at war but group of sponsors led by El-Rufai disagreed, that it was not true”.

“It is the same group of El-Rufai that started the human right abuses campaign. It was done in order to block any international assistance after the state of emergency was declared and the sect was initially tamed. That gave Boko Haram time and respite to build up again”.

Furthermore, General Ihejirika said that when the United States was to initially declare Boko Haram a terrorist organization, the same El-Rufai and his group mounted pressure on the international community, using alleged human right abuses as campaign strategy.

The former Army Chief revealed that this same group including El-Rufai have taken further steps in support of Boko Haram, “which I cannot disclose for now”.

It will be recalled that shortly after his tenure came to an end as COAS, some Northern political elites started the crusade for General Azubuike Ihejirika to be summoned before the International criminal Court in the Hague claiming that he killed their sons and daughters innocently whereas it is on record that no other military leader but Ihejirika did a lot in helping the nation contain the rapid spread of Boko Haram insurgency in the country.

He not only established the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army with headquarters in Maiduguri, he established new Army Brigades, Counter Terrorism Schools in Kachia and Jaji as well as the Terrorism Training School.

  4. One does not need a soothsayer to know that El-rufai is one of the major sponsors of Bokoh Haram and in d same vein, one must say the truth that Ihejirika is not clean as he also exploited the situation in d north to amass wealth for himself. This is true not only to Ihejirika but also, most of the corrupt military generals. God will punish them all for their evil deed_ leading to the killings of innocent soldiers.

  6. I can understand El-Rufai motive because he has actually been at the for front of protecting BH. when Ihiejirika was about crushing BH, El-Rufai was part of the group that accused the General of executing the Igbo revenge by systematically eliminating Northern youths, he blatantly denied the existence of BH and was in the forefront of not allowing the General to enjoy even his retirement threatening to prosecute him for human right abuses and genocide when it was apparent that BH were the perpetrators of genocide and human right abuse against Nigerians especially people of Igbo decent and Northern Christians. Let us ask ourselves these pertinent questions: what is Ihiejirika's motive if he is a sponsor of BH? Who is sponsoring the Australian Stephen? What facts has he brought to the table? and what evidence has he provided to back his insinuations? the next we will hear from El-Rufai is that Mr President is the Sponsor of BH. Nigerians beware diversions.

  7. All these allegations and counter allegations are rubbish. They should come up with concrete facts and prosecute in Law courts instead of the court of public opinion. As a layman, all I can deduce from all this drama is that our political ruling class knows more about Boko Haram than they are admitting. Why is he whistle blowing now? When he was in the military and had office as chief of defence why did he not bring up this story? Cock and Bull nonsense. They have personal beef with each other. They should take the rofo rofo off the public space!

  8. He has scarified two of his own in the coven for allegedly perpetrating evil yet antagonized all truth including CAN Leadership, insulting President at will and boasted in one of his interview that if his party did not win election 2015 it will blood for blood upon his head

  9. I think El' Rufai is afraid that investigation is closing on him as one of the chieftains of BK, so his trying not just to divert attentions/focus of Nigerians, he wants to deceive us. It was unfortunate that El'Rufai with all troubles and confusion he has caused is still walking the streets of Nigeria. Even the picture of his late shows the small boy wearing Jihadist face cap with crossing swords on it. That is how deep he, his family, and their cohorts are into boko haram jihadism.
By now if Ihejirika was still the Army Chief with success and speed he was going, without El' Rufai and his co BK sponsors campaign and plot that slowed him down by deceiving the Presidency. Boko haram would have been a thing of the past. It was when El Rufai, the sultan, Nyako, Ango abdullahi and their likes saw that Ihejirika was about flushing Boko Haram from Nigeria they started campaign that he was killing theirs sons (Boko Haram members). adding that Jonathan govt has declared war against the North. Does El' Rufai think others Nigerians are donkeys, cows and carmels too which he can deceive? May this what El'Rufai and cohorts have drafted OBJ to go now and deceive GEJ. They are all trouble makers and confusionists who do not want GEJ to succeed. I pray GEJ is careful with OBJ arranging pastors to reconcile him with GEJ. He has done it several times, he may be looking for a way to enter GEJ again. It is not in the best interest of us for this meeting, only two days ago OBJ was abusing GEJ. That Nigerian economy is worst now than how he left, this laughable considering the success GEJ his team has achieve bring Nigeria to be the biggest African economy.
The Australian never mentioned Ihejirika, follow the trail below and his write-up:

    Nigerians be wise.....!

  10. El Rufai and their cohorts are all sympathizers of Boko Haram not necessarily because they believe it propagates Islam but because they want to use it to taunt President Jo and possibly frightening him out of power.
It is not as if given power, they will effect any meaningful change in the current situation.

  11. some times we just seat on front of our system, typed and say rubbish......... this is a serious issue and we point accusing finger on pple we dnt have facts abt. For God sake, the president is the chief commander of the Federal republic of Nigeria. Nobody is above the law, if anybody is found guilty, they should announce it to the public and execute them. We dnt need all this blame game, is just a distraction and to heat the polity. This country is all for us, so we should learn how to talk on social media plsssssssssssssssssssss.

  12. I am of strong opinion that both El Rufai and Iherjiika should be put into serious scritiny on this matter. This may be the beginning of closing-on on the sponsors of Boko Haram.

  13. All you people saying the Australian didn't mention Ihejirika, have you watched the Australian's interview on arise TV? Maybe you should watch it then come back and talk. Or who was the chief of army staff sacked early this year?
