We know why APC is angry – PDP

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has said it is aware why the opposition political party, the All Progressives Congress, is angry. It said the anger of the APC was as a result of its defeat by the ruling PDP during the just concluded Ekiti governorship election.

The party said it was also planning to defeat the APC during the August 9 governorship election in Osun State.

This was contained in a statement issues by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh in Abuja on Thursday.Metuh was reacting to a statement issued by the APC on Wednesday in which it accused President Goodluck Jonathan of impunity and failure. The opposition party accused the President of having hands in the crisis rocking states like Adamawa, Edo and others where the governors there are currently having running battles with the members of the State Houses of Assembly.

Metuh said, "No doubt the APC is afraid and bitter that its prematurely celebrated electoral fortunes, its vaunted popularity to  win the 2015 election is being gradually smashed to its face as mere illusion."It lost Ekiti to popular votes and is afraid that in Osun where its divisive ideology has created an acrimonious  division in its educational system amidst non performance in other sectors, it will also fall, hence must heap the blame on President Jonathan.

The APC is clearly looking for grounds for fancied violence and subsequent truncation of democracy."The APC is trading in its best merchandise – falsehood, deceit, blackmail, sheer pernicious propaganda."This political party, the APC, is the centrifuge of violence in Nigeria,  and like  the 'thirty tyrants' in the ancient Athens,  is desperately looking for excuses to truncate democracy and ruin our collective destiny but Nigerians are not ready to dig in with them."Metuh said that it was on record that no administration in the recent history of Nigeria achieved in its first three years, up to what President Jonathan has so far achieved despite unprecedented security challenges.

He said, "In the past three years , the Jonathan administration has squarely tackled massive infrastructural development with thousands of kilometers of federal roads and bridges either constructed, reconstructed or rehabilitated while the long forgotten rail system is now steaming back to life with  modern coaches even as  expansion of network is on-going."Various measures  for air safety also  took centre stage with the vast expansion and rehabilitation of facilities at all federal airports  in a gale of efforts that changed the face of the nation's aviation industry in less than three years."He said for giving Nigerians what he described as credible electoral system, he expected the APC to praise the President for this.

  1. Each time I read statements from Lai Mohammed and Olisa Mentuh, I keep wondering whether having different political ideologies and therefore aligning with different political parties amount to a sin. Can't we be civil in our comments for once? Politics is not done by the insults we read on the pages of newpapers/internet from the publicity secretaries of PDP and APC. They both appeared intelligent, but rather than use same to sell their political ideologies/manifestos (if any) to the electorate, all I read/hear from them daily is the use of uncivil languages. God is watching you guys and will put a stop to this at His own time. He will save His people from the cruel hands of our politicians. I need you to know that whoever is not ordained by God to rule this country will not ascend the throne come 2015.
