Stop abusing my husband, Patience tells Nigerians

Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, on Tuesday advised Nigerians to desist from abusing her husband because God Himself made him the head of the nation.

Patience gave the advice while addressing children at an event she organised to mark the 2014 Children’s Day at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The children used the occasion to send letters of protest to the Boko Haram sect and President Goodluck Jonathan on the need to release the abducted girls.

The letters were given to Mrs. Jonathan for onward delivery to her husband and members of the sect.

The President’s wife however said since she did not know members of the sect, she would forward the children’s letters to the National Security Adviser or the Chief of Defence Staff.

“Let me thank the children that gave me a letter to give Boko Haram. Well, I have received your letter, but I am not the one to give it to Boko Haram because I don’t know Boko Haram and I have never seen Boko Haram. But I will give it to the NSS or the Chief of Defence Staff who will submit your letter accordingly.

“To my children, thank you for your letter. Thank you for your deliberation. I have received what you gave to me. I will make sure I pass it to the President because it is addressed to him and the other one is addressed to Boko Haram. That is why the two are different,” she added.

Earlier, Patience had told the children that God’s instruction to mankind to honour their parents was not limited to their biological parents only.

She said, “It is bad to abuse our country and the President because God has made him the head.

“The Almighty God commands us to pray for our leaders. We therefore need to pray for the development of our country and the President.

“Remember that a child that abuses his father and mother is disobeying God’s commandment because the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 that you should honour your father and mother so that you may live long in the land that the Lord your God has given you.”

She assured the children and adults who attended the event that the Federal Government was doing all within its powers to secure the release of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok, Borno State.

While calling on Nigerians to be united in the fight against terrorism, Patience also advised that citizens should learn to encourage soldiers who are at the forefront of the terrorism war.

“It is the right of every child to go to school. It is only through education that you can be able to achieve your dreams and contribute meaningfully to your community and the nation.

“We desire peace in our community and in our nation. I want you all to be ambassadors of peace in your schools and practise good manners. We have no other country than Nigeria.

“We therefore need to be patriotic and committed to our dear country. We should strengthen our covenant with our country as outlined in the National Pledge.

“Let us therefore be united in fighting terrorism. We should encourage our soldiers who are in the frontline to rescue our beloved daughters,” she said.

  9. I am. Not sure this weakness of Mr President is ordinary. Like first lady have afflicted him with woman dominion and he is now not able to recover. Imagine you you quoting Bible but see how you used to cane him and locked him in the house, you didn't allowed him to keep friends all because you thought they will give him girlfriends. For God's sake how you maltreated this man for over 20 years is responsible for this man weakness. Our women who turn their husbands to house boys should learn from your mistakes.

  11. God did not put him there madam Jonathan. He was supposedly elected by the people. I also agree with madam Jonathan the crazy in the north is not Mr. President's fault but the creation of Northern Islamic practices. The people of the North will always put their religion ahead of the country's interest. Islam means everything to them than anything else. I hope that the Confab will result in the ideas that are floating about the physical make-up of the country. Take the power away from the Central government and let each region be autonomy. This will reduce the clamor for wanting to die for the position of the president. It will also ensure the Muslims in the north to practice the worse form of Islam if they choose to do. We also have to scrap the constitution for a new one. he current constitution is a fraud. Natural resources should be 100% in control of the state where it came from. Let every state develop it's own resources.

  12. My fellow citizens, we should refrain from using abusive words when making our comments/criticism. Nobody can stop us from airing our views, but we can do it decently. I haven't read of the kind of things we say to our president about any other president. Is that their people are satisfied with everything they do? No. But they have grown to show decorum even in the midst of expressing their displeasure with them. Let us learn from citizens of other nations. Why not turn the energy you use for that into praying? That will be more productive. Remember too that power belongs to God.

I beg you South South people, if you guys insist you want us to allow you 4 more years, bring another candidate, You guys have Donald Duke, Oshiomole and a whole lot more intelligent people both in PDP and APC. Why don't bring them forward instead of inflicting Nigerians with this man who doesn't seem to know what to do about Our situation.

  14. Erm Madam PEJ, tell ya hubby to be the real C-in-C for just 24hrs and you will see how the insults will stop fiam.
Tell him to stop pointing accusing fingers at the opposition as the cause of his problems without proof. If he has even the slightest proof that some people are the ones causing the problems, he should immediately arrest them and take them to court; bring the evidence and if found guilty jail them appropriately.
I tell you one big fish outta all of dem trouble makers in jail will make them all simmer down and let him rest.
But I doubt ya hubby will, he is too lilly livered, like his name he relies on "Luck" a word which does not exist in the bible you are quoting to these children.
