Let's vote out PDP in 2015 - Amaechi

Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has called on supporters of the All Progressives Congress to prepare for the mobilisation and registration of party members in order to vote out the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

Amaechi, who made this call during a New Year visit to inaugurate 100 motorcycles to begin the registration of APC members in Tai Local Government Area, explained that one of the reasons why he left the PDP for the APC was the non-implementation of the UNEP report by the Federal Government.

The governor told party supporters that it was wrong for the Federal Government to deprive the people of Ogoni from receiving their compensation and enjoy a habitable environment.

He said, “On the day of the election in 2015, I want you (the people of Tai) to support the All Progressives Congress, vote out PDP and you will get the implementation of the UNEP report.
“In the 2011 elections, (Tai people) were among those who voted President (Goodluck) Jonathan into office and we have nothing to show for it as dividends of democracy. The only way you can pay back PDP is to vote out the party.

“PDP has the police to intimidate us, but, I tell you as a people, in a democracy, power belongs to the people to choose their leaders.

“So, you must protect the Rivers interest because we have suffered much in the hands of the PDP. We all must therefore defend the interest of All Progressives Congress.”

Explaining that the people of the state could not have a South-South President and allow the UNEP report to die a natural death, Amaechi argued that the Federal Government did not care about the people of the state.

The State PDP Chairman, Mr. Felix Obuah, dismissed Amaechi’s call on the people to vote out the party in the 2015, adding that the PDP would remain the ruling party in the state in 2015.

  2. Its incredible to know that a once vibrant Governor is now a laughing stock. Only change indeed is permanent. Gov. Amaechi is now living in no man's land. He is no longer seen as a serious person in Rivers state because of too much noise. I really do pity him....chei..Governor...i weap for rivers State.

  4. Frustrated man who has lost control completely, he is clueless. Rivers people now have to pray right now more than ever before whether this man can retract his step, settle down to work for remaining time he has.
He is unfortunately in a political wilderness journey and he needs help.
    Oh! our precious Rivers state!

  7. Amaechi should also tell the people that his personal interest is affecting the development of the state and therefore should apologise for these undevelopments. The people of Tai will not abandon their own. Presidency is better than vice presidency that would not even come to the region. The best Amaechi can get is a ministerial post if APC wins( a wishful thinking and a tall dream!)

  10. SUNNY!
THOSE WHO PRESUME THAT IT IS NOT RIGHT/POSSIBLE TO FIGHT AN INCUMBENT PRESIDENT SHOULD HAVE A RETHINK!
IT SHOULDN'T BE WHEN SUCH PRESIDENT HAS LOST HIS SENSE OF REASONING AND BELONGING AS IT IS IN THE NIGERIAN CASE.
IN OTHER CLIMES, 'POLITIKING' CEASES ONCE IT COMES TO HOME AFFAIRS. GEJ FAULTED ON THAT NOTE WHEN HE FAILED TO ORGANIZE HIS SOUTH-SOUTH GOVS INTO A FORMIDABLE BLOC TO DRIVE HIS RE-ELECTION BID BUT CHOSE TO FIGHT ONE OF HIS OWN BY USING THE POLICE AND EX-MILITANTS TO MAKE HIS STATE UNGOVERNABLE FOR HIM DUE TO ILL-ADVICE FROM CRONIES.
THE EARLIER HE {GEJ} MAKES PEACE AT HOME, THE BETTER FOR HIM IN 2015, I.E. IF HE WOULD EVER CONTEST. GEJ, DON'T UNDERRATE AMECHI'S CAPACITY AND CAPABILITIES WHEN IT COMES TO HOME POLITICS. PEACE IN RIVERS STATE IS PEACE IN NIGERIA. SO DON'T EXPECT ANY PEACE WHEN YOU DON'T WISH RIVERS PEOPLE SAME!
    DETRACTORS, BEWARE!

    1. What happened if one of the governors in the region as in this case, because of his personnal interest refused to coperate?. Remember Amaechi was called for a one on one meeting with the president at Aso rock and he only went there to announce that he can only attend the meeting if his brothers from the north attends the meeting. He even opposed emergency rule in the BH infested states just to satisfy the whims of his brothers from the north even though citizens from the south including Rivers indigenes were killed. What else did you want the president to do. AMAECHI is recalcitrant and his mind was made up a long time ago cos of vice presidency which he would never get. Since he has decided to split Rivers votes other states in the region will give embloc. Lets wait and see how far he can go!
