A close associate of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and Director General of De Raufs, a volunteer group championing the second term ambition of Governor Aregbesola, Mr. Amitolu Shittu has raised the alarm that his life was under threat for his organisation’s support for Aregbesola’s re-election bid.
Mr. Shittu, a renowned human rights activist and former Deputy National Chairman, South West, of the de-registered National Conscience Party, NCP, has been soliciting support for Governor Aregbesola.
Addressing a press conference at his office in Osogbo yesterday, Shittu disclosed that he had received several threat messages on his mobile phone in the last two weeks by anonymous persons.
He noted that the threat against his life might not be unconnected with his support for the second term ambition of Governor Aregbesola, stressing that the threat would not stop him from further canvassing for peoples’ support for Aregbesola’s second term in office.
He hinted that he had reported the matter to both the Police and the State Security Service (SSS) in Osogbo, the state capital
