Tracking down bandits is tough work – Police

Tracking down the bandits involved in the bank raid in Issele-Uku, Delta State, recently, has been a herculean task for the state police command as the intensive manhunt to apprehend the fleeing thieves has remained a mirage.

Speaking with journalists, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Lucky Uyabame, said “no arrest yet but we are not relenting. We are still searching for them but as at now, no arrest has been made.”
Uyabeme had told Vanguard on the day the raid took place that “we are trailing the robbers. We are on their trail. We have even trailed them to Edo State.”

He further hinted that an insider’s connection would not be ruled out, saying “an inside job cannot be ruled out because we gathered that the robbers struck that morning, thinking that the money they were expecting had arrived because not quite few minutes they left after the operation, the money arrived. So you can see the correlation, they had targeted that money, thinking it had come but thank God they did not succeed.”
The bank robbers had stormed the old generation bank at noon on the said date and caused stir as they allegedly used dynamite to blast the building and continued shooting sporadically.
