My release, victory for democracy - Al-Mustapha

Former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Sani Abacha, Major Hamza al-Mustapha, said on Tuesday that his release was a victory for democracy and the rule of  law.

The former CSO,  who  was in Kaduna for  a 'thank you' visit  to the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, and Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, also said he had forgiven those that persecuted him  during his 14 years incarceration at Kirikiri Maximum Prisons.

He urged Nigerians to pray for the country, especially now that the nation was passing through some security challenges.

He also expressed optimism that peace that had eluded the country would soon be a thing of the past.

Al-Mustapha, who spoke to newsmen  at the residence of Gumi, said, he had forgiven those who persecuted him unjustly because his release was a plus to democracy and judiciary.

He said, "I was sentenced to death but Allah turned it around because I spoke the truth and stood by it, which caused my incarceration."

In his  response, Gumi said the release of the former CSO  showed that no Nigerian  would be unjustly  convicted  by the judiciary.

  1. We'll soon know why you were released. We know what you did for your former Master (Abacha). The only the fact we aren't sure is, if someone has impeded justice because of selfish interest. We are waiting, We are watching.

    1. What do you know about what he did, where were you as to know what transpired between him and his master? He was persecuted and forcibly convicted by the ngbati judiciary- the appeal court judges has said it all. Just watch and see how fast this man's profile will rise wether you like or you no like... If you no like hang!

    2. Who knows? May be his release is not unconnected with the recent ceasefire agreement between the FG and BH.
