Man Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing Kolanuts


A man, Femi Akinmade, 25, was on Thursday arraigned before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court for alleged conspiracy and stealing a bag of kolanut.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Ayodeji Omoyegha, told the court that the accused and one other at large, allegedly committed the offences on March 5, at 11.00 a.m, along Erinje Road, Okitipupa.

``The accused and one other at-large conspired together and stole a bag of kolanut, valued at N10,000, property of one Chief Ope Omojuwa,’’ he said.

He said that the offences contravened sections 382, 383 and 385 of the Criminal Code Act.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

Omoyegha prayed the court for a short adjournment to enable him assemble his three witnesses in court.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Bode Famakin, who did not oppose to the application for an adjournment, applied for bail for his client on liberal terms and promised credible sureties if granted.

The Magistrate, Mrs Justinah Kpemi, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N20,000 and one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case till March 18 for hearing. (NAN)
