Houseboy, friend Held While Selling Stolen Car

A 20-year old houseboy who allegedly conspired with his friend to steal his master’s Nissan Ultima car has been arrested along with his friend by the police while trying to sell the vehicle.

The suspects are Akan Solomon, 20, and Kingsley Emmanuel, 20.
P.M.NEWS investigations revealed that Solomon was employed by Mr Chinedu Onwujuba, and until his arrest, resided with him in his house in Surulere, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

When he saw the fleet of cars in his master’s garage, he allegedly connived with his friend by giving him the duplicate key of  one of the vehicles to enable him drive it out.  And it was driven to Ladipo Market where they attempted to sell it.
When the buyer requested for all the necessary documents they could not provide any.

This made the buyer to be suspicious and he had to alert the police. And Solomon, who was negotiating with the buyer, took to his heels and abandoned the car. The vehicle was later taken to Ladipo police station.

While the police were trying to locate the owner, Kingsley stormed the station and claimed that his vehicle was removed from where it was parked.
He was immediately arrested and detained in the cell.

He later confessed how the vehicle was stolen and he also led the police to 2, Kudeti Street, off Adeniyi-Jones where Solomon was arrested.

The case has been charged to Magistrate’s Court 3, Surulere, by the police at Bode Thomas Divisional Headquarters where the suspects pleaded not guilty to the 3-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and breaking in.

They were granted bail with two sureties each to deposit the sum of N100,000 with 3 years tax clearance and verification of their addresses.

When they could not meet the bail conditions they were taken to prison, while the case has been adjourned till 18 February, 2013 for further hearing.
