Middle Belt alleges complicity in Yakowa’s death

The Middle Belt Forum alleged on Sunday in Kaduna that the death of Governor Patrick Yakowa in helicopter crash was part of a plot by the core North to eliminate the Middle Belt leaders.

Yakowa; his aide, Dauda Tsoho; the ex-National Security Adviser, Gen. Andrew Azazi, and three others died in a helicopter crash penultimate Saturday while returning from the burial of the father of Presidential aide on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Oronto Douglas, in Bayelsa State penultimate Saturday.

National President of the forum, Mr. Pius Attah, in company with the Director of Research, Mr. Augustus Bayaro, at a news conference on Sunday in Kaduna, noted that the recent threat to the life of Benue State governor, Gabriel Suswam, as well as the series of crises in Plateau State were part of the conspiracy against Middle Belt leaders.

Attah said, “We consider Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State could not escape the plot but died and all the circumstances surrounding the helicopter crash at Nembe in Bayesa State were suspicious. This would leave unhealed wounds in the hearts of Middle Belt and concerned Nigerians.
“What has been secretly held and kept as a long plotted strategy of core North expansion and hegemony for the subduing, subjugation and castration of the Middle Belt region come to the fore glaringly.

“We consider the helicopter crash at Kabong village in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State that lead to the death of Deputy Inspector General of Police, John Haruna, from Taraba State as a conspiracy against him and the Middle Belt people. The Federal Government set an investigation team to that effect but up till now, the report has not been made known to the public.”

The forum added, “Again we consider the Governor of Taraba State was not left out in the plot. Governor Suntai of Taraba is still in a hospital in Germany.

“Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State is under threat by the core North terrorists sponsored by their evil perpetrators both at home and internationally in order to achieve their selfish motives.”
The group said those behind the alleged plan were also after Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang’s life.
Attah said, “Governor Jonah Jang is also on their list through constant attacks. Many a time he was targeted to be unseated from his position or killed, but their target fail because he walks with God.

“We therefore, view seriously the motive behind these acts as an attempt to keep the Middle Belt region perpetually backward economically, politically and other wise by constantly projecting crisis situation.

“There is a clear indication and manifestation of terrorists coup d’etat to make Plateau ungovernable because of Fulani attacks on a daily bases at Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas of Plateau State, including the sponsorship of what is known as unknown soldiers even when some have been identified by indigenes in the two local government areas.

“For ages, Plateau and other Middle Belt states have been the target of all forms of attack and sustained aggression.
“As the game plan unfolds, it has become clear to the unsuspecting that the dislocation and castration of Middle Belt strongholds through a strategy of destabilising and eliminating their leaders is now the vogue. They have been hunting the lives of Middle Belt leaders.”

  1. "...but their target failed because he walks with God". So the rest dont walk with God? Stop fuelling crisis with unsubstanciated allegations. Let the Nigerian government do its job right and bring the perpetrators to book no matter their tribe or religious background. Don't sit there and blame the core North. Besides who or what do You refer to as the core North?

  4. It seems those bent on dividing to rule are not yet satisfied with what they have done to our once great and dignified region.The. ''Core North' will not gain anything by destabilizing the region. While most of us are working towards shaping a common identity where diversity is our strength, some South south sponsored ignoramuses are beating up stupid implausible and blatant lies to keep us in our confused stupor while the looting of the nations wealth by these same group continues. All people North of the two great Rivers are slated for extermination either physically or economically and that's reality for you,but only if you can think clearly devoid of blindened hatred sowed by our common enemy. Please wake up and let's move the nation forward by working. Hard and praying hard that our detractors get exposed by God's grace.

  5. I am fed off with this religious intolerance on both sides. Remember if God wanted all to be of one religion He would have just said'BE' and we would all become one. So since HE made us all different in color shape and size, why can't we all learn to live in peace with one another and maintain the maxim' To each one,his religion' as stated in the Quran? You are all sick!

  6. The fact here is that whether you are walking with God or not He do allow things hapen for His glory.Though men may plot evils.Thank God the midle belts are discovering their mistakes. The core north will always take advantage of them because they've believe in born to rul,.therefore, they do use divide and rule methods. The almighty God is exposing them. Before they were bribing people with positions and money. So the midle-belt concluded that it is better to walk with c-north than the southerners. But the quetion is who will us that wealth you've acquired if your sent to the grave early? This c-north are harboring evil-doers,even if they are not involved directly. There is no way somebody will go to a different evirons to commit evil without an insider. How will he know the land-marks of that location.

  7. Please do not be fed off about religions but do with our politicians. They found religion to be their new tool of use for their acquisition of evil powers but they forget the fact that they are only making their lives a living hell.

  8. Please my dear middle belt (or is it Northern christian) try to to understand the antics of the enemies of the North. They always try to set you against the so called core north. Anyway wich part of the country is called core north? Is it the Christian communities in Zuru and Biu or the Muslim communities of Borgu or Ankpa? Can't we people in the North sit down and think beyond religion? May Allah guide us right Ameen.

  9. This is not whether one walk with God or not, when your live is over God will allow you to go to the glory of HIS name.Though you may die as a result of ones evil plot.Southerners has never tried to divide the north rather than to to have their own state. It is the c-north who has been using this divide and rule system to conqure and dominate others. They believe in this born to rule syndrome. They do use the midle belt and dump after victory.Imagine when T.Y.Danjuma was minister for defence they argued that key post has not been given to the north.Thank God m-belts are discovering the hypocrasy of the c-north.I believe that if the president is given to m-belt they'll protest.
