Rivers commissioner kidnapped

Worrisome reports reaching us say that another Commisioner, this time around in rivers state has been kidnapped.

We just learnt that the Rivers State Commissioner for Power, Augustine Nwokocha has been kidnapped along with his Personal Assistant.

Our source says the Commissioner was kidnapped in Ede, Onelga Local Government Area of the state early this morning. An eyewitness said that Nwokocha was pulled out of his land cruiser Jeep and was taken away along with his aide, Samson. As of this time, Nwokocha's family is yet to be contacted, but his vehicle has been found.

Nwokocha has been the Rivers State Commissioner for Power since April 2008. He formerly represented ONELGA Constituency 1 in the Rivers State House of Assembly between 2003 to 2007 and was the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions and Compliance in that period.

A former businessman, Nwokocha is a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation and a Justice of Peace (JP) and Certified Mediator/Conciliator.
