ANTI ISLAM MOVIE: Nigerian Troops protect US Embassy In Abuja, protesters dispersed in Jos, Sokoto

 

 

In the wake of the massive protects that have swept all across the Islamic world concerning the offensive anti-Islam movie, created by a US director, the Nigerian government  deployed security personels all around the American Embassy in Abuja, in a bid to secure the US Embassy in Abuja, and prevent attacks by Muslim groups reportedly mobilizing all across the Northern states all united against the offensive movie depicting Prophet Mohammed SAW in a bad light.




In Sokoto, the Islamic spiritual headquarters in Nigeria, protesters burnt a US flag, but Kano, Kaduna, Maiduguri and Damaturu, which have been flash points of religious violence in the country, were generally calm.

NigerianEye gathered that many of the youths were wearing white shirts that read “To Hell With America, To Hell With Israel,” chanted slogans and called for the arrest of the makers of the film that has sparked protests across the Middle East and North Africa yesterday.

“Time has come when the world should respect Islam as religion, because Muslims respect other people’s religion,” protester Abubakar Ahmed Rijia said.

 

Another protester, Nai’u Muhammed, said he believed people were deliberately trying to instigate Muslims into violence through criticising the Prophet Muhammad.

 

“Islam is a religion of peace, but we cannot tolerate somebody abusing it,” Muhammed said.

 

Meanwhile, security officials in Jos dispersed protesters at the Central Mosque in Jos by firing live ammunition into the air. It will be the second protest in Jos since the US-made anti-Islam movie ignited Muslim fury in the Middle East and Africa.

Eyewitness said two people are killed in Jos, but a military spokesperson, Captain Salihu Mustapha said there were no casualties.

 

The protester had begun the protest march carrying placards denouncing the US and moving towards the main street on Ahmadu Bello way when soldiers began firing off.
