The ruling Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ogun State won 19 of the 20 local government chairmanship seats and 217 councillorship seats in last Saturday's council poll.
Chairman, Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, OGSIEC, Alhaja Risikat Ogunfemi, who announced the results at its state headquarters in Abeokuta, yesterday declared, that ACN won with a landslide victory.
The results, declared that Peoples' Democratic Party,PDP, won four councillorship seats in Ikenne Ward 9, Odogbolu Ward 13, Odeda Ward 3, Ijebu-East Ward 7, Ipokia Ward 4, Agosasa Ward, Ojugbele Ward and Ajegunle Ward while Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, won in Ijebu-East Ward 6.
Ogunfemi said election results in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area was being withheld pending the determination of a court order in respect of the election in the area.
Mean time, a chieftain of PDP in the state, Prince Buruji Kashamu, has commended the electorate for coming out to vote for the party in the council poll.
In a statement Kashamu said the massive support PDP got at the poll showed that it was firmly on ground in the state.
He noted that the results the party got from its field officers indicated that PDP won the election in at least eight local government areas – Ipokia, Ikenne, Sagamu, Ijebu North- East, Ijebu North, Ijebu East, Odogbolu and Ijebu- Ode.
