ReplyDeletei expect the FG to pass a law in the aviation sector that any plane above 16 years should not operate or fly in the country. reasons being that, my reseach on some of this countries which we call experts to come manage these planes like the indian don't have plane up to that amounts of yrs in their country.

Nice one. There is even a 38 year old aircraft there, owned by Kabo air. Arik and air Nigeria seem to have the youngest fleets. We all know the difference between tokunbo and tear leather.
ReplyDeleteIf Arik and Air Nigeria can acquire the kind of fleet they have, why cant the rest? Standards have just been lowered. If there is a will they will be a way.
This is where the government and senate should come in, to put laws in place that will ensure better and younger planes. The industry is not for small players. This will help seperate the boys from the men and weed out unserious players.
It will better to loose jobs, aircrafts and businesses than to loose lives unnecessarily.
Most of these planes are older than most youths in Nigeria. How can someone be using planes close to 40 years old for commercial flights.

ReplyDeleteLeave matter for mathias! Age is not a major determinant. Maintenance is. One can buy a 1992 car and use it better than someone who is diving a 2005 corrolla. same with planes. besides, have you factored the age of some of these companies you just mentioned? Arik and co that are less than 10yrs old, as compared to aero which has been in operation since 1958 without a single mishap to their record? If you maintain your property well, it will last longer if not there wont be a mad rush for all things vintage.
