A Final year Medical Laboratory student of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki, has been found dead, after apparently hanging himself in his room.
The undergraduate, who was identified as Michel Onwe, was found dead in his room at No 16 Ibe Street, Abakaliki, on Sunday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that his neighbours became apprehensive of his whereabouts after they had not seen him for sometime.
They subsequently alerted the Police, who came and forced his room open, only to discover his body dangling from the roof.
A neighbour, who spoke to NAN on the condition of anonymity, said that the late Onwe had spent over 6 years in the university.
“He was first offered admission as a medical student, but was offered an alternative course in medical laboratory in the same institution after he failed his medical examinations twice.''
The witness described the late Onwe as a native of Umuogodoshe in Mgbo town, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi state, who had recently alleged a threat to his life by a cult group.
“The development made his parents and security agencies to investigate the threat to unravel the circumstance surrounding the situation.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi command, ASP John Eluu, confirmed the incident and said that the body has been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.
“The Police has commenced investigation into the matter with a view to unraveling the cause of his death.
“All evidence at the moment points to suicide as cause of his death but the police is yet to ascertain the reasons he took his own life, after leaving no note behind.”
Eluu appealed to family members and the general public to be calm as the police would unravel all circumstances relating to the matter.

What are police unravelling again when it is obvious that the young man decided to take away his life by himself,those the deseased knows that he might even graduate without goting job,God forbid this life that is as sweet as power someone can snub away his own because of education that you cant measure with life,if you call him Abakaliki which he is he will frown at that may he ungentle soul rest in peace

Somebody has killed him and made it look like he has hanged himself. Police people should investigate the allegation that there has been a cult members threat to his life. This is why i likethe foreign police and how they handle incidents like this, you dont just jumb into conclusion when things like this happen without first carrying out a thorough and a proper deep investigations. Am sure he was murdered and they made it look like he hanged himself period.

ReplyDeleteI use to think that people who hang themselves are some one who is frustrated, until I watched a live deliverance in a church, where a demon who is attacking a man's business spoke out through him that he deliberately brought the man back from Botswana to enable him kill himself by hanging in his hometown, because they need his blood and that they (d demon) has destroyed all his business. when the man re-gain conscious he could not remember anything he was saying. Surely the guy or his family is under a spell a normal human can't take his life knowing fully well that he will pass through pain before he dies
