FG to release list of Boko Haram sponsors

In their bid to end the ceaseless attacks being unleashed on some parts of the country by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, security chiefs have prepared a list of the sect’s backers. The list is said to contain names of suspected backers of the sect and other terror groups.

A security source told our correspondent on Friday that the list was compiled by top security chiefs at a meeting held to strategise on how to end the spiralling violence.

The official said the decision to compile the list was born out of the belief of the security chiefs that the anti-terrorism battle could be won sooner than expected if people linked with violence were exposed.

The security chiefs were said to have worked on the intelligence report that some top politicians had been giving financial backing to terror groups with the aim of destabilising the present administration.

The official said the security officials had resolved to formally inform the office of the National Security Adviser about the alleged involvement of such politicians supporting terror groups.
Apparently supporting the claims of the NSA, Gen. Owoye Azazi, that some undemocratic practices within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the build-up to the 2011 general elections fuelled the violence, they heaped the blame on those they called greedy politicians.

They went further to identify the alleged politicians to include those who held the opinion that only persons from their region could contest the presidential election after the demise of President Umaru Yar’Adua.
“The meeting heaped the blame on greedy and selfish politicians who don’t want Nigerians from outside their region to rule the country,” the source said.
He described the meeting as fruitful, adding that Nigerians would soon be seeing results.

  5. Naija will never cease to amaze me. How will publishing names help the situation? So if the names are published, it is now the duty of citizens to go en-mass to prosecute the so called sponsors? If u have a list, use the authority vested in your office to deal with the scoundrels, and stop feeding us junk news.

  9. I bet you all that the list is full of names of people from excluded region that did not produce the president! This is an illogical and irrational blame game. After being victims of terror and annihilation, we are soon to be labelled as the terrorists that destroyed ourselves with our own hands! How possible it is that we as a people will support the destruction of lives and properties, the disruption of all economic activities and the creation of a diabolical image of ourselves as terrorists just because we are not in charge? Haba, NSA, granted that the north surely is short changed by the reversal of the zoning arrangement, but I am certain none of the aggrieved persons has the capacity to unleash the kind of violence we on this side are experiencing daily for almost three years now. Enough is enough- we should sit talk and part our ways as it is obvious that the union is worthless to the teeming innocent masses who are vulnerable to all the trumped up lies . I am certain that Allah in his infinite mercy will bless our new country with more riches than all the oilfeilds in the 'outside ' region. He who runs from a fight, leaves to fight another day!

  12. The list contain names of suspects, not criminals until proven guilty by a competent court.

This is not the time for pointing fingers. All suspects and the evidence should be presented before a competent court quickly. No delay.

The authorities in Nigeria should show determination to resolve the matter at hand. The judiciary and the Nigeria Bar Association must support and speed up this process.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Nigeria is a country and if a competent court cannot resolve the matters at hand without corruption then Nigerians must seek recolonisation or ask the United Nations to provide a competent alternative to Nigeria court.

  14. I bet if 9ja was under Military rule, the Govt won't boast of releasing names of Boko sponsors, for them to buy enough time to escape and continue operations outside 9ja. If the current Govt is bold enough, why not arrange the suspects before a court NOW!!! & stop making a fool of your Govt.

  15. Pls spare us d list, thought u said they are faceless how come u now know them? If really U have d names prosecut coz even if we know their names it will make no diffrence because we dnt have d power to procecut or kill them.

  17. We will soon desend into full blown anarchy, especially if the list is perceived as political victimisation. For goodness sake, if there is irrefutable evidence of anyone sponsoring the current mayhem, let the person or persons be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Of what purpose is the list if not to cause confusion and bitterness in the polity. Our security agencies should weigh their actions properly in these delicate times.

  18. 1. Does Nigerian govt reads what is beeing posted on this site?
    2. Has any one taken his/time to look at the Nigeria Map?
    3. Mr. GEJ is a worthy man to lead, look at the way Mr. Obama handled the case of Osama, nobody knew the plan until it was exucuted. Some news are not meant for public consumption at early stage until the final results are ready, useful and meaningful to the public, if Obama had published his 'moves' on how he want to capture Osama, do you think Osama upon hearing would not have strategised and relocated elsewhere? So Mr Nigeria President you need the gut, strength, ability to resist, wisdom as well as empathy on those who had lost their beloved ones in this so called BH mission of destruction.
I know for sure if your son son or daughter has been killed in this BH exercises something would have been done. So stop the senseless idea of saying the list is ready, what does Nigerians want to do with the lists, they want security of life and property that they have given you charge and responsibility which you have failed them.
If anyone has said they will make your government ungovernable, whatelse are you waiting for, this statement is enough to send such person to jail till you government has reach it's tenure end.
I can see that you are too gentle for this great responsibility.
    4. Mr. President would you wait until your household is affected before taken the necessary action?
    5. Can this be read by the presidency?

  19. Sorry, the above statement should be Mr. GEJ is not a Worthy man to lead

  26. Why this special annoucement before publishing the names. You are giving them the opportunity to either esapse or work to remove thier names from the compiled list, this is NIGERIA anything can happen.

  27. is really unfortunate for Nigeria at this point in time, and I'm highly disappointed in the GEJ's led government. Why do we behave as if we are acting a movie, this is reality, people are dying everyday, properties are being lost everyday and now we are talking about list. but sincerely is time the people of Nigeria say No to Boko Haram, they leave close to some people that still believe they are working for a religious purpose. Security operatives are not semi-god, they are humans, in developed countries the security operatives are effective becos of the cooperation of the the citizens and technology. So Nigerian lets wake up to the challenges in front of us lets cooperate with the security operatives

  31. AS confused as President GEJ is, I think the earlier he understands that the existing forced marriage of the Nigeria state can no longer stand, the better it is for a better solution.

  32. I take every news from Nigerian Media with a pinch of salt. Journalists are to report events but I have discovered that Nigerian Press create news for pecuniary reasons. The Freedom of Information bill should prescribe punishment for sensational reports that are found false and fraudulent. Nigerians deserve to be told the truth!

  33. Let us be rid of these incompetent upstarts! If government has a list of the sponsors of the mayhem being visited on hapless citizens, the first thing they should do is to go after them and make them pay the price. What is the sense in threatening to publish a list of the names of perpetrators of henious crime?! It shows that the occupants of Aso Rock have no clue whatsoever on what is going on and how to tackle it. We should be rid of them immediately

  34. Fellow Nigerians, it is with great surprise to hear that people are trying to persuade our dear President – Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to have a direct talk with the so called Boko Haram killers. Where on earth should such destroyers call on their president without any bit of regard on his person / office, issue an automaton of going to commit more havoc to lives and properties should the president fail to yield to their call?
The Evil Agender Uknow to Nigerians
(1). In abid to actualize the EVIL agenda of the BOKO HARAM, president GEJ has been marked to be killed in disguise of requesting that a direct talk with him should be organized.
This is a set up by whoever that did it, to have Nigerian president killed (this Ijaws will not take lightly), throw Nigerians into War, spilt the nation, disrupt the government of a southerner which is the bedrock of NORTHERNERS PROVOKATION.
(2). GEJ is neither a weak nor I- don’t- Care Leader as many have summarized him for. The truth remains that supporters of BOKO HARAM are almost in every sector of GEJ government, including both the National Assembly and the Judiciary. GEJ is not alone in government, he adopts team spirit in relating with his cabinet which majorly have Boko Haram Fans.
(3). GEJ means WELL for Nigerians, even till now! Forces against his government from within and without are numerous. We all owe him our prayers to deliver. Boko Haram or its likes has discovered that killing GEJ is the most easiest way to finally distabilised not only Southern person as president but as well destroy Nigeria. A killer is a tool in the hands of Satan to carry out his act of Klling, stealing, and destroying. Boko Haram has the spirit of the devil who means No GOOD FOR ANY ONE. The truth is Nobody can successfully end BH. Kill all her members / Fans, in the process of time the spirit goes into others willing to achieve the devils aim. Adam and Eve were recorded as the ones who obeyed the devil’s voice, thereby sinning against God. They are dead, yet sin is still been committed by so many in this world. The spirit behind BH is of Satan. You can only minimize the effect of their existence but not to totally eradicate them. Only God can. But this will happen when Satan, his followers, and his agents are finally thrown into the LAKE OF FIRE.
In case you are in doubt of this writeup, simply note this date, and make documentation of this writeup and watch events that unfold in the years ahead.

Surely, a revolution that will lead to serious murder of our past leaders and others who are enemies of Nigeria is eminent. Let God open your eyes. You should prepare for the WORST POSSIBLE NOT THE WORST PROBABLE. The northerners have their secret agenda.
Late Abacha tried to Islamised Nigeria, he failed. Look at the Shape of National Assembly complex – that of mosque! Be wise Nigerians. Be reahy for the untold about events happening, so that you will not be taken unaware. Make peace with God and prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ.
God save Nigeria, Nigerians who are true patriots, help GEJ to take Nigeria forward in Jesus name, amen.

    ReplyDelete
  35. pls mr GEJ watch out they are very close to you{BH members}how on earth will you allow such names to be publish, dont you know they can easilly work their way out?I agreed with the above speaker who made mentioned of president Obama on how Osama was executed,i thing you should borrow a leave from him.But nigerians lets pray for our leaders for direction and wisdom, amen.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes and No.

Yes charge them to court for the alleged crimes and the nation would know their names, hence.

No. Do not publish names before arresting them; as that would make the government appear weak, unsure of itself, and engaged in political witch-hunting.

Charge them! They are assumed innocent until a court of law pronounces them guilty! but charge them!

The federal government must wield the club; and no mercy must be shown to the mentally deranged murderers!!!

  37. Pls & pls we ar tied of hearing that. Listen Mr. President, you are not gallant enough to protect Nigerians. We gave you our mandate so as to protect us and our properties. Were is the power? were do you throw the power bestowed on you? It was meant to be used...

  38.
