UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Bayer Leverkusen 1–3 Barcelona

Holders Barcelona have one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals as two Alexis Sanchez goals and a late strike from Lionel Messi saw off the challenge of Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.
The Chilean put the visitors ahead four minutes before half-time after being put through by the effervescent Lionel Messi.
With keeper Bernd Leno advancing, Sanchez slotted the ball through his legs to convert his first Champions League goal.

Far from being overawed, Bayer hit back soon fter the break through a wonderful header from Michal Kadlec. The Czech rose above Dani Alves to thump home Vedran Corluka's cross.

But Barcelona hit back immediately through Sanchez. Cesc Fabregas was the provider this time, and the 23-year-old rounded Leno before rolling the ball into the empty net.
And it was up to Messi to cap another fine display with a third in the 88th minute.

In the other round of 16 game Olympique Lyonnais commanded a 1-0 lead over APOEL in the first leg at Stade Gerland, goal by Lacazette
