NO fewer than 25 persons suspected to be members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram from Zamfara State were arrested by the police Thursday night while on their way to Enugu State.
But in a swift reaction to the arrest, the State Police Command said the arrested persons were believed to be hunters even though investigations were on to determine their true identities and their actual mission to the state.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that the heavily armed suspects were intercepted around Okpuje while heading to Nsukka in a Zamfara State Government-owned Nissan bus with registration number XA 581 MRD.
When their bus was searched by the police on the spot, several locally made single and double barrel guns, machetes, daggers, axes, some powdered substances among other items concealed in fertilizer bags were reportedly discovered.
Both the suspects and their weapons were taken to Nsukka Police Division where they were detained.
The news of the arrest spread throughout the academic town of Nsukka yesterday causing panic among the residents some of whom trooped to the police station to catch a glimpse of the arrested persons and their weapons.

ReplyDeleteAnd these are the kind of people a President wants to negotiate with. They say the christians and non-northerners must leave the north, so what is now their business with the east.
ReplyDeleteit is obvious now that the northern governors are involved in this chaos. the source of the state government owned bus should be investigated
ReplyDeleteThough,am from d west, but it is high time, BIAFRAN leaders woke up from their slumber,nd tighten securities, entering their states.Same goes to all other ethnic groups. All seaports in the country, shld be closely watched.I dnt knw why they are trespassing.
ReplyDeleteGod has divided this country naturally by rivers Niger and Benue meeting at Lokoja then coming down to the atlantic ocean. See the map of Nigeria and you will see ODUDUWA republic to the west, BIAFRA to the east and BOKO HARAM to the North. Itis time to stop deceiving ourselves.
ReplyDeleteThe fish that eats other fishes would one day be eaten
ReplyDeletePlease mine your tongues, and wait for the end of the investigation. Pls, be patience.
ReplyDeletenonsense what do nigerian police and the govt think we are? fools ehn!! What other investigations are we looking for; locally made guns, unexpended amunitions, powdery substances, wires, etc. If they were hunters, why hide the weapons or so called hunting tools in bags? do they have a hunting license or is hunting in the east now for anyone that people can travel from Zamfara to hunt in Enugu not far from Nsukka where they are having an important occassion. Is hunting in the night hours now? IF ANY BLOOD IS SPILLED IN THE EAST OR SOUTH/SOUTH BY THIS BLOOD THIRSTY ASSOCIATION,THAT ARE SPONSORED BY SOME MASKED INDIVIDUALS IN THE GOVT, WE WILL MASSACRE MUSLIMS LIKE CHICKEN BEGINNING FROM THE NORTH. NONSENSE.
