President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated Captain Idris Wada for his victory in the governorship election in Kogi State and promised to work with him in implementing the developmental programme.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati said Jonathan also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the ad hoc staff of the Commission for a job well done.
Jonathan reminded them to start in ernest to continue with the developmental programme of their predecessors, adding that the governor-elect and his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi had the relevant experience and drive to positively impact on the lives of the people.
"President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan congratulates Capt. Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on his victory in yesterday’s governorship elections in Kogi State.
"As Capt. Wada and his running mate, Architect Yomi Awoniyi prepare to assume the mantle of leadership in Kogi, President Jonathan assures them of the full support and cooperation of the Federal Government in their quest to build on the efforts of their predecessors to develop the state.
"The President also commends the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ad-hoc staff recruited for the elections, especially members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the police and other security agencies for working very hard to ensure that the trend of notably improved elections in the country was continued in Kogi State yesterday", the statement said.
