A 20-year-old man, Ismail Saadu, on Wednesday appeared before an Ilorin Magistrates' Court for allegedly being in possession of charms.
The accused, a resident of Adabata, was arraigned on a one-count charge of possessing criminal charms, contrary to section 217 of the Penal Code Law.
The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Samuel Mayowa, told the magistrate, Mr Joel Michael, that the accused was arrested by a team of policemen on patrol by Cpl. Falola Jimoh of ‘B' Divisional Police Station, Ilorin.
Mayowa added that some charms, a cutlass and a wrap of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from Saadu and that the accused could not give satisfactory account of himself during police investigation.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The police prosecutor urged the court to give him more time to complete investigation into the matter.
In his ruling, Michael granted the accused bail in the sum of N10, 000 with two sureties and adjourned the case to Nov. 29 for mention.
