Ahead of the Cross River State governorship election slated for April next year, youths in the state have commenced a door- to- door campaign for the incumbent governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, citing his achievements as legacies why he should be re-elected.
Speaking when he inaugurated chairmen and secretaries of the various door-to-door campaign committees in all the local governments of the state, the Special Assistant to the state governor on Youth Affairs, Dorn-Cklaimz Enamhe, said the youths were embarking on a special campaign for the re-election of the governor because of his youths friendly projects, which had endeared the youths to his administration.

According to Enamhe, “Governor Liyel Imoke’s administration more than any other governor in the history of Cross River state has given the youths a sense of belonging by identifying with the youths of the state. For instance, the governor has paid all the monthly stipends to all the youths and we are happy for it.”
He also said Imoke’s administration had set up youth training centres across the state to carry out entrepreneurship trainings for the youths in various vocations. He said the governor took advantage of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to improve the welfare of the youths of the state.

Enamhe also said as part of the governor’s youths friendly disposition that twenty five youths from the state were recently sent to Russia to for their post graduate studies at the expense of the state.
He further stated that, “so far, the state government have re-introduced National Examination Council (NECO) in the state and have paid the examination fees of the students to enable them register and partake in the examination.
He, however, said: “It was for this that we have inaugurated various committees to champion his re-election at the April re-run governorship election. We have tried and tested him and he is found worthy by the youths of the state.”
Enamhe said the door-to-door campaign for Imoke was to ensure that no stone is unturned in the campaign to ensure his return back to the government house.
As part of his youths and workers friendly disposition, he said the state had paid the N18,000 minimum wage to the civil servants in the state.
