With a mixed blessing of results, Stephen Keshi has seen two games gone by since his appointment as Eagles manager. Nigerian fans are eager to see their national return to winning ways, but Keshi don’t seem to share in their enthusiasm.
Keshi who was the longest serving captain of the national team was appointed at time the Eagles were in their lowest ebb. He said during the week that building a solid national team will take time and therefore Nigerians should be patient.

“I can understand the clamour by Nigerians for a team that they can be proud of. But they have to be patient, because you don’t just jump into fray and expect things to change over night.
“We have played two games and I have seen what that is needed to be done. This will take sometime,” Keshi stated.
He added that the team he is looking to build for Nigeria will have the character of the team, he captained to the 1994 World Cup in the USA
“We need to bring back the characters we used to have in the national team. These were great team spirit, winning mentality and fighting for the ball all the time. We will require time to make all these things return to the national team.”
