ABAKALIKI – Ebonyi State House of Assembly is to summon former Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Housing, Mr. Jonah Egba; Permanent Secretary of the ministry and contractor, CAT Nigeria Ltd.handling the state-owned five-star hotel since 2001.
The project which was awarded for N2.6 billion to the contractor by the former administration of Dr. Sam Egwu is still under construction despite the huge funds.
The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Mr. Ikechukwu Nwankwo,said this, yesterday, during a tour of projects in Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone by relevant political stakeholders in the
state.
He directed the House Committee on Lands, Survey and Housing to look into the immediate and remote causes behind the delay in the execution of the project, adding that N2.4 billion had so far been committed to it yet there was little to show for it.
Nwankwo, who represented the governor during the tour, stated that the projects executed by the state government were enormous and would benefit the entire state.
He said: “The immediate past Commissioner for Lands,Survey and Housing, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry and the contractor handling the project should appear before the House.”
Projects inspected included Ochudo City, the new secretariat, the Staff Development Centre, Ebonyi State International 5-Star Hotel, International Trade Centre, Deputy Governor’s Lodge, and new medical ward complex,
