Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has vowed to sanction any commissioner or political appointee who compromises his or her position against the interest of the state and its citizens, warning that “all self-seeking and corrupt-minded individuals have no place in this government.” At the swearing-in of additional four commissioners and members of the boards of parastatals, Monday, Governor Fayemi, stressed that his administration would not compromise accountability and transparency in public office.
The four new commissioners include, the immediate past member of the state House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye, a retired permanent secretary, Chief Dayo Fadipe, Mrs .Ropo Adelugba and Mr. Paul Omotoso.
Also sworn-in were chairmen and members of the Board of seven commissions/corporations/parastatals.
According to Dr. Fayemi, ‘’It is also important for me to reiterate the stand of this administration for transparency and accountability in public offices. Ekiti is not a property to be shared among the high and mighty, but the common wealth of the entire people, rich and poor. Let me warn therefore that all self-seeking and corrupt-minded individuals have no place in this government.
“We are proud to be identified as a people of high integrity with deep abhorrence for corruption in a Land of Honour. This standard cannot be compromised.”
Fayemi called on the political appointees to abreast themselves with the eight -point agenda of his administration.
He advised them “not to be too far to the people in their constituencies and keep them posted of all the government programmes and activities from time to time.”
