The Falcons appeared technically inept yesterday as they drew with Ghana at the All Africa Games qualifier yesterday in Abuja.
Ghanaians easily dominated the game but justlacked scoring ability to beat Nigeria in their home. But they left Abuka with their heads high with a 1-1 draw that makes them the favourites in the second leg.
Though the Falcons drew the first blood in the 75th minute, the visitors whose supporters’ drums appeared to be gingering them levelled up four minutes later. Scores remained so till the final whistle.
Ghana so dominated that when it ended coach Eucharia Uche managed a smile, apparently grateful that she did not lose the match.
Thomas Obliers, the German who is waiting to take over the team to the June Fifa Women World Cup finals only watched the seemingly over fed players being drilled round the pitch.
Kuukui Dadsie, the Ghanaian coach was optimistic of winning the return leg match. Ghana.
“We have very a bright chance of advancing in the chase for the All Africa Games ticket. The return leg in Ghana would definitely be in our favour. From what I’ve seen of your players we are certainly going to dominate the return leg” he said.
