The outgoing governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, said that his support for the People’s Party of Nigeria (PPN) was not based on any political ambition but rested on the principles of equity, justice, and fairplay as well as the sincerity of the party on the state’s developmental agenda.

He also described the party as the only one capable of continuing the various developmental programmes of his administration aimed at turning around the fortunes of the people.

The governor spoke at the 22nd edition of the Omu Eleni Day Celebration and launching of N500 million naira development fund of the town in Odogbolu local government area of the state.

“I want to thank you for casting your vote for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan during the presidential elections. I want to assure you that I am not PDP. I remain in PPN and I am casting my votes for PPN,” Mr Daniel said.
He affirmed that his decision to leave PDP at that level was based on the illegal parallel primary election
conducted by the party, adding that “I cannot worship the devil; I cannot worship falsehood. When it is time for a man to stand for justice, equity and progress, a man must not be found wanting.

“For me, it is a matter of principle and from what I have seen in a couple of days, our people have come to realise that PPN is that party that can liberate our people and deliver the goods. It is a party that will not reverse all the good things that our administration has put in place, and it is the road to progress and prosperity,” he further said.

He said his government had worked so hard in the last eight years to better the lots of the people, pointing out that he had done a lot and could have done more if not for some individuals that have become clogs in the wheel of progress.
