A mid-afternoon fire has gutted part of the Opebi, Lagos home of Pastor Tunde Bakare, the vice presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
Although only eyewitness accounts have been made, the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Sam Jinadu also confirmed that there was a fire at Tunde Bakare’s residence.
According to him, the fire, which started around 3 pm in the afternoon, razed part of the building before it was put out by officials of the Lagos State Fire Service.
Jinadu said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, adding that investigation had already commenced.
However, a member of the Latter Rain Assembly, where Bakare is the presiding pastor, said on condition of anonymity that the fire was caused by an electrical fault in one of the children’s rooms.
