Ladoja accuses Alao-Akala of personalizing state projects

The Director-General of Senator Rashidi Ladoja Campaign Organisation, Mr. Adeolu Adeleke, has criticised Oyo State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, of allegedly personalising state projects.

Adeleke, who made the allegation in a statement on Tuesday, said it was part of the Alao-Akala administration’s ploy to score cheap points and propagate falsehood.

Adeleke noted that the Alao-Akala government was in serious search for credibility, having failed to justify the huge resources available to the state government within the last 35 months. He alleged that most of the projects inaugurated by the governor were initiated by Ladoja during his administration.

He asked the people of the state to find out from the present government what had become of the industries established by Ladoja. He named them as the tractor assembly plant, the fruit juice canning factory in Ogbomosho, the asphalt plant along Ijaiye-Iseyin Road, the Clay Company in Erunmu and pipe company in Eleyele, Ibadan.

He also challenged the state government to publish the total amount spent on some projects such as Mapo Hall, Adeoyo Hospital and roads like Queens Cinema-Molete and Ido-Eruwa.

But the governor’s Special Adviser on Public Communications, Mr. Dotun Oyelade, has described the allegation as ridiculous. Speaking on the telephone, he said, “Did he (the governor) personalise Mapo Hall or Atiba Hall in Oyo where Adeleke comes from? Did he personalise the various road projects across the state?

“Of all the projects listed as being destroyed by Akala, none was working by the time Ladoja left office in January 2006. The one that was working was incapacitated when he came back briefly in 2007".
