PDP Governors Plot Removal of Ministers

Less than 48 hours after the removal of Okwesilieze Nwodo as National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, there are indications that some governors of the party have asked President Goodluck Jonathan to sack four serving ministers.

The governors met on Tuesday night at the Kwara State governor's lodge, Asokoro, Abuja to deliberate on some salient issues affecting the country, where they drove straight to the Presidential villa to make their complaints against the ministers known to the president.

The ministers said to have fallen out with their governors include the two ministers from Delta State, Godsday Orubebe, Minister for Niger Delta and Minister of State for Education, Kenneth Gbagi. Others are the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Jubril Martins-Kuye and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Bala Mohammed.

It was also gathered that there were complaints against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed over his ‘fight' with his state governor, Isa Yuguda. The governors were said to have alleged that the ministers have refused to work with the governors of Bauchi, Delta and Ogun because of the political disagreement and factions in these states.

Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State is opposed by a faction loyal to the minister from the state, Mr Martins-Kuye. It was also alleged that because of the seeming differences between the governors and the ministers, the ministers reportedly refused to campaign for Mr Jonathan in their states as they were said to have remained in Abuja rather than in their home states.

Blame game

Some supporters of Mr Yuguda blamed the closeness of the result in the state's voting at the party convention on the disagreement between the governor, Mr Yuguda, the SGF and the FCT Minister.

Mr Jonathan beat his main challenger, Atiku Abubakar with a mere two votes during the party convention of the PDP. Another resolutions of the governors at the meeting, which was presided over by the Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki was support of the decisions reached at the 56th National Executive Committee,

NEC meeting of the party, where Mr Nwodo was removed and replaced immediately by his Deputy, Bello Haliru Mohammed as acting National Chairman of the Party.

  1. I think PDP as a party should be purge of his ego-centrism to save this country from ruin,i start to imagine if Governor forum is really people representative
They should have internal disciplinary measure against their who err in respecting the wishes of their people.Governor like Daniel should be the first to be discipline with all atrocities he has committed against the people
