The Federal Government will engage the services of foreign security experts to strengthen investigations into the emerging trend of security breaches across the country, the minister of Defence, Adetokunbo Kayode, said yesterday.
Mr Kayode, who paid a visit to the Mogadishu Cantonment scene of Friday's blasts in Abuja and to the survivors of the explosion receiving treatment at the Asokoro General Hospital said Nigerians should thank God that the perpetrators of the act have not been able to achieve the full measure of their scheme.
The Defence Minister was accompanied by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Azubuike Ihejirika; Chief of the Naval Staff ((CNS), Ola Sa'ad and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Mohammed Umar.

"What has happened is surprising and shocking and government will never take it lightly. We will review our operations to make them much more efficient," he said. "It is like a vista of security challenges, but now we know that these people have no limit to what they can do but government will deploy all its forces, both overt and covert. This is really a war against the public and government will not allow it".
The Minister also said government will not overlook any clue that would assist in unraveling the emerging trend, including the likes of the Boko Haram and the Jos crises.
"Professionals and experts from within and outside the country would be deployed," he said. "We will seek the expertise from outside the country if our capacity cannot cope. This is a matter that has been taken to the highest level."
Saying the implication of the latest blasts on the country and the military should not be taken out of context.

"We must however know that planting bomb is not a regular thing in this country, but this is not
to say it is a blow to the military because the Mammy market is generally a public place where civilians interact with the military," Mr Kayode said. "This incident has shown the nation the kind of people we are dealing with. The victims of these blasts are 99 percent civilians and this is a deliberate attempt to create problems for the people".
Politically motivated
When he paid a similar call on the scene and the victims at the Asokoro General Hospital, Asokoro, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, who condemned the act said the National Assembly would not make any comment till investigation are completed.
"I am sure that that my visit here is not the solution to the problem that we have. We need to know exactly what happened beyond what we can see now. Before I make any response, the consistency which I represent, which is the House of Representatives, will begin to look at the steps taken by the executives in order to stop this mayhem."

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Mohammed said the explosions were politically motivated.
"The act, from all I see as a politician and as the Chief Security of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is to cause fear and confusion so that the territory and the country will be ungovernable," he said.
