This new development followed fresh information that the executives initially arrested in separate raids between and granted bail still had a lot to discuss with investigators.
It was gathered that the summon became necessary because of further discoveries in the course of investigations into the matter, which the anti-graft agency had spent over eight months to investigate.
The firms were allegedly involved in offering bribes worth over $100 million to some Nigerian officials. The oil servicing companies include Tidewater Incorporation, Transocean Incorporation, Noble Incorporation and Murphy Shipping Company all resident in Lagos.
Those expected to have a chat with the operatives today include: David Ronald Davies, Dave Arthur, Ajala Pius, and Abayomi Samuel, Noble Inc. Others are Richard Hart, Arthur Mcgimsy, Olatokunbo Kuforiji ,Tidewater Inc as well as Mojisola Agbabiaka (Murphy Shipping Coy) and Gabriel Oramasionwu ,Trans ocean Inc.
The commission to deter them from escaping from the country while the investigation is on- going equally seized the travel documents of some of the executives.
When contacted Head, Media and Publicity of the anti-graft body, Femi Babafemi, told the Vanguard that “I am aware of the summons we are expecting them here in Abuja” but refused to make further comments on the issue.
It would be recalled that EFCC had last year intensified investigations into multi-million dollars bribery cases involving multi-national companies and their Nigerian accomplices.
While charges have been filed against some of the accused, others have taken the option of out of court settlement resulting in payment of fines totalling over N25 billion.
Our source said there is every likelihood that the companies involved may also opt for a plea bargain this time to save their heads like some major oil companies did late last year.
