Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi
state, has declared his intention to run for a second term in office.
According to Mohammed Onogwu,
chief press secretary to the governor, Bello declared his interest during the
inauguration of the Kogi state house of assembly commission in Lokoja.
The governor said he took the
decision after consulting with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress
(APC) at the state and national levels.
He explained that it became
necessary to declare his bid following the release of the election timetable by
the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“I would like to inform the good
people of the state, the All Progressive Congress family and supporters from the state, the local government areas
down to the wards and polling units, as well as various stakeholders, opinion
molders, families and friends of my interest to run for a second term in office
as the Executive Governor of Kogi state,” Bello said.
INEC has scheduled November 2 for
Kogi and Bayelsa governorship polls.
